We stayed here two nights. The steep flight of steps up to the buildings from the road and the narrow uneven path to our room made it difficult to get about. The room on arrival was very cold and the bed felt as if it hadnt been aired properly. I was so cold that I had to sleep wrapped in the duvet with the electric heater on. The bathroon was a good size but the towels provided were small and rough. One even had a hole. Although the food was good dinner was let down by dirty table linen and the presence of the staff who stood around watching. I know it was do they could serve us if needed but it was most off putting. On a plus side we were offered hot water bottles on the second night.

Summer home of the Maharaja of kandra. Nice big rooms with walk in showers and comfortable beds. Rural location so plenty of birds and other wild life. Large dining room that is also the lounge. Set menu with number of dishes to suit most tastes. Very friendly, helpful staff, Zoe of whom have been with the family for years. Visit in the monsoon season and you may get a visit from the Maharaja or maharani for after dinner coffee and drinks.

Booked 5 rooms in June 2017 and stayed for 3 nights. Clouds End Villa is a beautiful heritage property with a certain old-world charm. It is well maintained and boasts of newly renovated rooms surrounded by spacious lawns. The food is great and the staff is efficient and friendly. Since the property is located on the outskirts of a forest, one can find lots of peace & quiet. The distance to McLeodganj is less than 2 kms from the Villa. Whereas going downhill from McLeodganj is not a problem, it is a whole different ball game when one is climbing uphill from the Villa. With a gradient of almost 65-70 degrees at some places, the walk becomes too strenuous and too steep. Luckily, taxis can be arranged at a nominal cost of 150/- to 200/- for the distance. That serves as quite a blessing! Word of Advice: If you travel to the Villa in your car, leave the car there and use the taxis! And while you are at Clouds End Villa, if you are fortunate enough, you just might run into HRH the erstwhile Raja of Lambagraon-Kangra!

This is a charming Heritage property, where many of the bedrooms are in separate, tin roofed properties. It may have seen better days in terms of decor and service, but still charming. The setting was what made it for us, although, back to tin roofs, be warned, take earplugs. The morning wake up, at around 6 am was monkeys charging over the roof for the trees and breakfast. A stunning view over the mountains a short walk around the hotel perimeter

Very basic hotel but nonetheless a really enjoyable place to stay. The staffs are friendly and there is a happy atmosphere. Rooms are about 40 steps up the hillside from the entrance on the road so would be difficult for anyone with impaired mobility. A good 30 minutes walk from the town centre so not a lot to do in the evening other than have the evening meal in the hotel and retire to the room. Meals are served in a refectory style dining hall with classic heavy wood furniture and long dining tables. There is no general heating so rooms can be very cold (we were there late February and the mountain air was not more than 4/5 degrees at night. ) The staff did supply some electric heaters but they didnt make a huge difference - it is long time since I sat warming myself of a two bar electric fire and jump straight out of the shower into clothes that had been warmed by the fire ! Dont get too much of a fright when a large Languor monkey noisily clatters across the corrugated aluminium cladding on your bedroom roof . It is quite a racket.
