The biggest issue with sikkim is the network And the roads.. Surprisingly for a place so close to rumtek monastry the road to this hotel are horrid. In fact, it s utterly exhausting as for each excursion in and around Gangtok you have to traverse through the horrible Gangtok traffic and the pathetic road to the hotel. Now the good part its an amazingly well laid out hotel, great staff headed by very attentive Mr Suraj ,great decor ,great views and authentic sikkim food...from their own well kept beautiful kitchen and herb garden unlike most other places..that we visited. The best part which speaks volumes of the attitude of the place is that they have a meditation room. Some where else they would have made it into a hotel room. Now the sad part..the lights in the room and bath are too dim..you cant see much .And the wi fi is erratic. So your debit card may also not work...Also the place cant handle too many guests. On our last day there was a guest watching TV and constantly ordering food and the only 2 waiters were unable to handle it all( understandably).. One tip if you are a light sleeper take the middle rooms as the birds start early and sun comes piercing through to wake you up. And as a closing comment always ring up the manager whenever your phone signal is up as you lose the signal soon...

Stayed at Bamboo retreat for a night. A quite and simple hotel. Our room was spacious, clean and had the required amenities. Hotel is situated very near to Rumtek monastery and roads as of now was in a little bad shape. Manager Mr. Suraj is a wonderful person, helpful, always looking after your comfort and trying to give his best. Their Herbal bath is rejuvenating. We requested for local Sikkimese Veg. food and the food served was delicious - bamboo shoots, Potato with Fenugreek and many more varieties. This place is for people who want to be near nature not for those who are looking for luxury. Overall good experience.

We spent three nights here with the whole family - 2 adults, 2 kids (5 years & 1 year). It was one of our best stays in Sikkim! Location if perfect - very peaceful, surrounded by beautiful nature. It's easy to make walks around (Rumtek Monastery and other). The place itself has everything you need and some extra bonuses in addition - spacious clean rooms with all necessary equipment, own garden outside with many places to rest, wonderful restaurant, kids play room (very appreciated by parents :-) meditation room above which is like a small copy of the monastery... The food was delicious and probably the best we had on our stay in India. All the service and people were very helpful and always smiling. We would be very happy to come back here again!

This place is a unique combination of Swiss Artistry and Sikkimese hospitality. It is not often in India one finds a place with such outstanding attention to detail, but this really is a swiss mountain lodge in Buddhist mode. The Feng Shui of each room is exquisite and during our two week stay here we were permeated by a continuous sense of well being. The place is run by local Sikkimese people and their hospitality is heavenly. They are not only very kind and attentive, but intelligent, discerning any needs you might have before you even know about them yourself. I really enjoyed the Buddhist meditation room at the top of the building. In fact staying at Bamboo retreat is very much like staying in a luxury temple, something I had otherwise only experienced in Japan. Every detail has been thought of here. For example we have two small children who one might think would get bored staying in a

My stay at Bamboo Retreat was idyllic. The room was clean and spacious, the bed so comfortable and the whole boutique hotel is decorated with such attention to detail and wonderful interior design. The area is quiet and the view from the balcony is just stunning. Suraj and his team will go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Would definitely recommend to both solo travelers, couples and families, I just wish I'd stayed for longer! Thank you!
