Terrible experience. Suggesting you Never plan to go there, 1. No Service. 2. No edible food 3. Very less quantity food if you need anything 2nd time that will cost extra. 4. No drinkable water service. 5. Have to go 4th floor terrace by stair each time to take Lunch, Dinner or Breakfast or Tea. (we were on 1st floor) 6. We reached hotel at around 8:30 pm and they thrown us on 11:00 am exactly next day, they told us you have to pay extra to use any facility after that even to use toilet. 7. They gave dinner with Boiled rice, squash fry (very little amount), Daal, Only 2 pc of sour chicken (if you need extra it'll be chargeable there). 8. Taken tea at morning (35rs per cup they said it is chargable). 9. Breakfast, 3pc of Loochi with a very small bowl of chana sabji and a boiled egg, if you need extra sabji or loochi or egg it is extra chargeable here. 10. Thrown our luggages to luggage room exactly on 11:00 am, Even don't gave any toilet to use after that at any cause. First they asked our ladies to change on a terrace, then after request they gave a very dirty, dark small room to change for the ladies, So we came back. We requested for a room toilet, they told us ALL ROOM are booked (though we can not see any guest around or in service book to entry of the guest) So take my suggestion, Dont go there, you will feel all the above.

We were traveling as a group - three families and kids - and stayed at Lamaz Residency, Gangtok for 4 nights in March, 2016, We had done the booking through Binita Lama, and she arranged the entire travel itinerary during our week long stay in Sikkim - including the stay at Gangtok, local sightseeing at Gangtok and 2N/3D North Sikkim tour (covering accommodation and sightseeing at Lachung, Lachen including Snowpoint and Gurdongmar lake) Lamaz residency can be termed as a decent (no frills) hotel with good rooms - you get what you pay for. It is about 10-15 min walk to MG Marg which is the main shopping district of Gangtok. There is nothing fancy or out of the world with the rooms - but the excellent behavior and treatment by the staff more than makes up for that. The super deluxe rooms in the third floor are much better compared to the deluxe rooms in the 1st floor. One main problem we faced was the lack of health faucets in the bathroom - the kids also found a bit difficult due to the absence of hot water (there were intermittent power outages). But, one highlight is the support that the entire hotel staff gave us whenever we had any requests/issues. Binita herself was always available for help and giving tips - that is a big plus. There is a restaurant at the top floor - and if you are a reasonably big group, it is better to order the food well in advance. The food is good, no complaints on that. The tour arrangements were spot on, and the hotel bookings made at Lachen and Lachung were also very good. We knew that they are remote places, and hence the expectations were very low. But, the hotels at both the places were very reasonably priced, the food was also very good and the staff were just great. The transportation arrangement was also very good. One thing we are very weary is regarding the behavior of drivers of local taxis - and Binita made sure that her private driver came along with us. Overall, it was a very good experience. Would rate 3/5 for the rooms and accommodation at Lamaz residency (Gangtok), and 5/5 for the transportation arrangements and the hotels at Lachung/Lachen.

We booked retreat hotels (at Gangtok on 29/5, 30/5, and 2/6 and 3/6/2016, Lachen on 31/5 and Lachung on 1/6) through their Kolkata office for our recent trip to Sikkim. Our main aim was north Sikkim tour. When we reached Gangtok, it was a great surprise to us to realize that the Kolkata office keeps complete control on these hotels and the hotel staffs (including managers) have no power. They only had the information of our booking with the room numbers and amount due. Even they do not know the room tariff we are paying. Therefore for every problem, we had to talk to the Kolkata office with our mobile and in most of the time we did not find tower in it. In fact we booked two Mountain View deluxe rooms at all the places except Lachung where we booked a super deluxe room (without extra mattress on EP plan). Initially they charged me with an extra mattress and the base tariff was more than that has been mentioned in the website. I noticed that when I reached Gangtok. When I informed it to the manager, he told me that he do not know about the charge so I have to talk to Kolkata office. In fact we got a further surprise when we were informed at Gangtok hotel that their north Sikkim hotels (at Lachen and Lachung) have been closed due to closure of the roads of North Sikkim. The Kolkata office even did not care to give any advance information of such closure to us though we had booking at their hotels at North Sikkim. When we talked to them for this situation, they offered 50% refund or to shift the booking at Pelling. They were not ready to understand that cancellation fees are not expected to be implied when the management himself has closed the hotels. We had no other options but to accept the offer of shifting the booking at Pelling. They allotted a standard and a deluxe (Kanchanjangha part view) room for two days instead of deluxe rooms at Lachen and super deluxe rooms at Lachung. The tariff of the Pelling rooms were lower than that at Lachen and Lachung and the rooms were in a separate building, which was about 50 meter far from the main hotel building. I requested them to recalculate the tariff as the tariffs of the allotted rooms were lower than the rooms actually booked (at Lachen ang Lachung), but they told that recalculation of tariff is not possible and we have to pay the same tariff of the rooms at Lachen and Lachung. It made me understand why they asked me to pay the full tariffs of Pelling Hotel at the Gangtok hotel itself, before we leave for Pelling. With a lot of frustration we returned from Pelling to the Gangtok hotel on 2/6/2016 and was not ready for any further surprise. During check-in they first asked the remaining due amount. Though we had money in our hand, but from our past experience with this hotel we told that we have to draw it from ATM and will be able to pay next day. They somehow agreed and asked me to sign in the check-in register. When I looked at the register I found that I have not done any mistake to read their mind. They have kept one deluxe and one standard room (203 and 204) for us though we booked two Mountain View deluxe rooms. I knew 204 is not a deluxe room as I stayed in 201 on 29/5 and 30/5. When I told about the mistake to the manager he told that the rooms have been allotted by Kolkata office and I had to again talk to Kolkata to solve the issue. It was really annoying for us to talk to Kolkata office so many times for each and every issues and we told that we will not do any further talk to Kolkata and they need to solve the problem. They told that they are looking into the problem but to sign me on the register for the time being. We refused to do that until correct or better category rooms are allotted. Finally they provided us a deluxe and super deluxe room. At the evening I called Kolkata office to re-send the tariff details but they did not send it. In the next morning, during check-out, I found that they have reduced the total tariff by some amount but the calculation of the tariff is still a mystery to me. After so much happening I will strongly discourage others to book this room. There are hell and heaven difference in what they claim in website and what they actually provide. The tariff, they charge, are higher than that has been mentioned in the website. They try to collect the tariff in advance and if paid, you will be in a helpless situation. They did not give any receipt for the advance payment. When I asked for the receipt of advance payment, they told that they do not provide any receipt for the advance payment made during the booking and advised me to use the booking confirmation as a proof of payment. Though in the booking confirmation they did not mention the booking amount. You will not get 24 Hours running Hot and cold waters. To avail Wi-Fi you have locate the manager and request him to turn on the Wi-Fi system. In Pelling hotel Wi-Fi system was not working at all. The range of Wi-Fi is not good and you will be able to connect with it only a few meter distance, not even from room. We did not get any complementary mineral water as claimed in the website. In the name of premium toiletries we get a small soap. Newspaper / magazine stand was not available in the lobby. There was also no parking space around. If you go by car, you have to park it road side, which is, of course, free. I am not sure about the Multi Gym and Karaoke facility as I had no more confidence to look after them. The good things that I have found that the hotel staffs are very cordial and the rooms are clean. They hotel staffs were always ready to help us with a smiling face. As a final point, if you dare to book the hotels of this chain and want to take your food here, never forget to place your order well in advance. On the very first day we requested for tea at 7:00 PM and they told that they cannot serve tea at that time. Needless to say that we never dared to order tea during our stay except at early morning and during breakfast. We were so frustrated with this hotel that we changed our tour plan and left the hotel one day before the schedule and opted a home stay, which was far better than the hotel.

We had last minute booking in Lamaz residency due to changes in plans to visit North Sikkim. We booked it as it was the only hotel available in our budget. Average hotel with OK rooms. Nothing fancy. You get what you paid for. Rooms need better maintenance as one of the room we got had broken wc lid which never got fixed even after request. Food is average, nothing bad to say about it. Only one drawback is, there are lot of staircases so not suitable for elderly visitors

Terible Hotel Total 4 hotel i stayed in Gangtok all was good but this was not in standard as they shown in make my trip. We book Hotel Retreat Lamaz Residency and we take 1 hour to findout this hotel because name was not same as we book. We book 2 deluxe room 1 for me and my wife and 2nd for our 3 kids.At the time of check in i surprised when an unprofessional staffs told us we are sorry but not give you both rooms in same floor.ok if no other options we ready to enter. When we enter one room we surprised that rooms already occupied by some other guest, when we complain then again same staffs give us a key for another room have in same floor. So my dear this means you telling lies that you not have 2 rooms in one floor. In reception no one received the call, next morning we came to know that for reception you must call in restaurant because staffs are limited. Very painful. When we entered in one bathroom, comode have no seat cover. after complain some one fix but that room had very dirty smell from bathroom i think no was 302. In night electricity cut and surprised there were no generator provison from hotel. In only one room Invertor 1 cfl working in other totaly darked. They dont have driver place to sleep not even on charge basis.When i ask one around 50 55 year old gentleman then he suggest us to not come again by car.How disgusting. Next morning when we go on top for breakfast we came to know on 3700 per night they not given us free breakfast. Ok when we ready on charge basis they told us brakfast is over. I was surprised at 9am breakfast finish.i request one kitchen person for maggie and after he bring from market he serve us 2 minute maggie in 40 miNute. Not sugestable to book.
