A small locale situated in the state of Maharashtra, Ganpatipule is thriving as a popular tourist destination. It is a perfect getaway for all the beach lovers, peace seekers and pilgrims. With beaches breathtakingly beautiful, temples highly sanctimonious, and landscapes offering stunning views, Ganpatipule attractions simply proliferate in numbers. A Ganpatipule tour is best experienced in winter between October to February.
The 400-year old Swayambhu Ganpati Temple is the main attraction of this place. According to the legends, the Ganpati Idol, made of white sand, has emerged on its own from the soil. The cadenced sound of the nagaras coming from the temple in the morning stimulates a seraphic feeling in the minds and hearts of every traveller. The temple celebrates Ganesh Chaturthi, which falls between the months of September and November, with much solemnity.
Beaches, of course, are what gives Ganpatipule its beauty. The Ganpatipule Beach, outlined by the Ware Beach and the Malgund Beach, is the most attractive beach of the region. Basking around the golden sand and traversing the shimmering waters are some of the important activities that tourists enjoy in this beach. Dense forests of coconut, palms and mangroves covering the coastline form a spectacular view.
Located in proximity to Ganpatipule, Velneshwar is a beautiful village that is bestowed with spectacular coconut-fringed beaches. The village is also famous for its ancient Shiva Temple. Resting on a cliff, at a distance of 35 km from Ganpatipule, Jaigad Fort is another popular tourist site that gives a breathtaking view of the vast Arabian Sea. Besides these, Malgund, Ratnagiri, Pawas and Light House are the prominent places to visit around Ganpatipule.
