It was indeed an amazing experience for us at the Arco Iris Goa. The hosts were very hospitable and courteous. Great place to be for people who want a break from the busy and mandane city life. The food served is delicious and tailor made to your taste. Fenny is a real stress buster. Looking forward for my visit again. Keep up the great work.

Most of the wonders of this place is well covered in other reviews. One delight is the prospect of finding lovely books or magazines pretty much everywhere. In your own room, by the living room, in the dining area and so on. The other is the music which is played softly from Buddhist chants, Bhaja Govindam to C.Ramchandra at various times. It will greatly help have your own vehicle, driven down or rented locally. Lots of small villages, shops and an absolutely stunning beach at Mobor / Cavelossim which is not to be missed. Two things that were lasting memories for us was talking to Ganesh, learning about Beni and he went about resurrecting a dilapidated, historic mansion in to what it is today. The other is Jila Bakery at Lotoulim. Do not leave without doing either of these.

We had a good time in Arco Iris Nobel Home. The host and the staff are very generous and helpful. if anyone wants to experience the old Goan home and beautiful natural surroundings, this is the best place. The architecture of the building is stunning. The place is maintained very well. Looking forward to visit again in near future.

We had just an absolutely fantastic time for our 10 days staying at the Arco Iris. Our adventure started when we found the Homestay in the Guardian newspaper and it looked just what we were after - a beautifully appointed retreat that offered an escape to the real Goa. So we looked at their website and identified a room that we wanted to stay in - each of the rooms is individual since they were all part of the original Portuguese style villa. Therefore we got in touch via email with Beni, the owner, and she was prompt and helpful in her reply - as she was all the way through when asking for niff naff such as hairdryers! She also arranged for the airport transfer which was waiting for us exactly as planned on our arrival at the airport. The homestay is about 45 minutes from the airport and as you leave the bustle of the airport and its environs the countryside starts to take over. The transfer was 1500 Rupees and the same company was used throughout our stay for excursions. Taxis arent expensive and the taxi will stay with you for the duration of your day out and the drivers were always in a clean car (with air con!) and were courteous and helpful. Costs for the taxis were added to the final bill so no cash was needed for individual trips. The first impression of the homestay was how lovely it was and how lovely the area was. The villa looked just like the pictures and Beni and her small staff were there to greet us. We were shown to our room (the one that we had requested) and then we had a tour of the villa - its beautifully restored sympathetically with the original building and has a wonderfully calm feel. It is clean and fresh with an open and welcoming feel. The grounds are well kept and attract local wildlife and the lake (which serves as a reservoir for the paddy fields) at the end of the drive is rich in birds and the occasional snake! Kingfishers, kites and a plethora of ducks will keep you watching for hours. The rooms are private and there are shared areas for reading (well stocked library of general and local literature) as well as dining - eating with the other guests (the other guests during our time is a great way to enrich your experience and find out about local activities. Beni is a font of knowledge about days out around Goa and will call to make sure that the places you want to visit are open and will check prices. We were there slightly out of season so several places werent open but a phone call made sure and even in one case (the river cruise) allowed us to go anyway. As mentioned taxis could be arranged but Beni also allowed us to rent her scooter for about 350 rupees a day - everyone rides a scooter and once you get used to the local traffic flow (every man for himself!) then its a great and fun way to explore and get around. And finally the staff: Priscilla the cook produces lovely local food, the entire place is seemingly powered by Ratul who does everything from the gardening to waiting, and then there is Beni who is a wonderful host who ensures that the stay is a wonderful experience. Its off the beaten track and Goa has many hidden gems that makes for a genuinely authentic experience away from the tourist crowds. We have made friends and will definitely return.

All the great aspects of this wonderful place have already been covered and I can only vouch for the fact that they are all true. It's a great place to stay and is run by wonderful people, be it the owners or the support staff. It also exposes you to a part of Goa which is still not mainstream touristy, hence rather charming. A vehicle of your own is required in view of the relatively secluded location. If I had to pick up improvement areas, perhaps I would make the meals even better.
