  • Unfriendly and badly treated !

    by Karma D on

I stayed here for only a few nights and I was only happy to leave. My friend recommend this place and at first everything seemed good. As I'm traveling alone as a woman safety is a big deal and unfortunately it was not the feeling I had. I paid for my room in advance and when I checked out there was suddenly an extra bill that made no sense. The owner said it was 1600 rupees outstanding but all I owed was 180 for laundry. I gave him 2000 and he never returned with my change and instead sent his brother to collect the key. The owner saw I had a business card from this place in my phone case and got angry, took it out him self, asked very harshly where and why I had it and said it wasn't for my kind. I also got my sim card from here and after leaving it stoped working. I'm not saying it's connected but I found it to be a weird coincidence. I felt badly treated and would not recommend anyone to stay especially if you are a woman traveling alone.

  • Good rooms and terrible service

    by Shashiks on

I went here because a friend had recommended this place. But surprisingly it turned out to be not so good. One thing to mention is that it was undergoing full renovation outside when I stayed. But not providing soaps or hot-water, or no-one to call out to when you need something is not the kind of service I would have expected. Strangely the wifi would only work if you sit outside. You dont even get phone network inside the rooms. The only good thing was A/C and room was clean along with bathroom. As for location, it's quite close to the beach, you can walk down there. There are good places to eat nearby once you reach the Vagator beach road which is like 200 mts from this place.

  • Friendly Family Stay

The Rooms of Baba Place are new- have Fan and Shower with hot Water. Its lokated near the Fort- but very quiet - even at the Day isnt that much traffic- you can walk to the small nice village for Breakfast in 5 Minutes. We stayed in the Mainhouse- the House is made of Stone so the walls gave the heat from the day back to the room at night. even the fan couldnt handle it. The windows havent got gratings- thats why we had to be awake till its cooled down before we could sleep. to bad. because the house was nice. we had a kitchen in the house incl. Fridge- the privat Shower and Toilet was outside on the hall. Room: nice and clean and safe Bed : very hard mattress. Sleep: quiet - but hot- good after cooling Located: far to walk to beach- but just 5 min to Restaurants

  • Lovely spot

Set in a peaceful location, directly under Chapora fort. I had a tranquil stay at Baba place, & yet only 5 minutes walk into the village centre, where there are several bars & places to eat. 10 minutes walk in the other direction & you find yourself on golden sandy beaches with many fine eating places. There is plenty to see & do, within walking distance of Baba Place, but if your in need of a scooter, bike or taxi to explore further afield, Alex, the owner is always happy to help arrange anything to make your stay more comfortable. The accomodation itself is very comfortable, & well thought out, comfortable beds, sumptious en suite shower rooms & each room has its own terrace, with table & chairs overlooking the newly landscaped courtyard. Baba place is family run & all the family are warm & welcoming. I would definately reccomend a stay here.

  • Quiet, comfortable and good value accommodation.

    by Geoff H on

This was a very pleasant guest house accommodation set in a block of small villas. The rooms were with either A/C or fans do bathroom ensuite. Slightly cheaper for a fan room. From here It was a pleasant 10 minute walk into chapora village for food and a 10 minute walk the opposite way to vagator beach or fort. We took a small breakfast at Babas a couple of days and of course there was also a very tasty masala chai. The family were very helpful and friendly. From here too, one can hire scooters and taxis at a very reasonable rate.

  • better go for the Rooms - the mainhouse is special- but to hot at night to find a relaxing sleep

  • All rooms are more or less the same. We didn't need the airconditioner as the fan rooms were adequate. That's your personal preference.
