Located right on the beach which isn't too crowded, ocean view, well maintained swimming pool, clean rooms, breezy, super peaceful, excellent food and cocktails (+ Kings) pretty much sum up the wonderful 4 day stay. Breakfast could be slightly better, maybe a live eggs counter, but the current spread isn't too bad either. The food (veg too) was super throughout and the staff was courteous and polite. Best place to opt for to just relax, perhaps read a book, go for long walks or just plain unwind. Hardly any touristy spots around, which is a plus, but it also means that you'll have to stick with the restaurant in the resort throughout. There aren't any good restaurants within walking distance from the resort (except the fancy ones at the Hyatt next door), so can't explore much without a cab (perpetual rip-offs in Goa). Sorry, no bike rentals available either, which maybe this place could start. Nevertheless, will definitely visit again, just for the experience.

Mumbai Airport Saturday 3rd March'18 BAMBOLIM BEACH RESORT - 17th to 20th Jan'2018 This was my 3rd visit to this charming little property by the Arabian Sea. Having eliminated about 20 odd seemingly appropriate hotels, that I and a buddy scouted around in Goa in April last year, we settled for Bambolim beach resort. An Agreement quickly drafted, advances paid and we booked 40 rooms in the 6 Nos sea facing villas they have. Our needs were simple for we were meeting old buddies from our Engineering college after 45 years, having begun our professional journey together 5 decades ago. SELECTION CRITERIA : Must be on the beach (not walkable distance) where one can walk bare foot in one's swimming trunks, without feeling sheepish. Clean, airy rooms (with Ac) that allowed sun light to come in. Clean toilets and bed linen. Swimming pool. Green Open spaces and not the stuffiness associated with business hotels. Friendly, helpful staff. Reasonable prices. Reasonably good food with variety thrown in. We named this event of ours " GJ-18/Goa". Right from the word go, guests landing at Dabolim airport on 17th mid day onwards, were ferried to the Resort in batches, welcome accorded in typical Indian way at the door step and after a refreshing drink, escorted to their respective rooms. On this day, mercifully, the resort had kept the restaurant open until 4 pm. This greatly helped several late entrants after cross country flights. There were 4 informal events that unfolded from 17th early evening : The Inaugural - at the "bay watch area" jutting out almost onto the calm waters below, and the adjoining lawn. The early evening indoor games and Quiz show in the "Ocean pearl" conference hall on 18th. The 18th Dinner n cocktails on the "Red tiled floor area" with the beach below. The " Gala cocktail Dinner "with live band on the beach. The Resort technical staff ably arranged to put up the necessary lighting, sound boxes, banners, festoons and nicely done up chairs and tables, the way we wanted. In yet another location with a small manicured lawn having a natural slope and steps, the merry bunch of batch mates and their spouses posed for group photographs. The surprise was the hurriedly done up stage adjoining the parapet wall, which formed the lively band to perform on, mostly retro hits of our era. The food, starting with breakfast and up until dinner time, was a revelation, it had improved several notches since my last visit a couple of years ago. All of us, men and women, felt rejuvenated after that event filled 3 days and 3 nights which included long morning walks on the beach front despite the late night catching up and camaraderie, our property seemed to be at one end which ensured no trespassing (Goan beaches are public) and therefore tranquil. That there were no big waves suited us for some of the ladies too felt sufficiently emboldened to step deep inside the sea. On the 20th forenoon we all bade adieu to each other and the Resort staff before heading to the airport, in batches. I must admit, the Resort felt like home and it's efficient and amicable General Manager, Mr Andrew Gama and his team had a huge hand in making this event, our "GJ-18", a smashing success. I have had an identical event for our (management school) Ruby reunion, in a 5 star Goa beach side Resort, during Dec16, it was too rushed (2 nights) and not half as fun as this one. Bambolim beach resort, with their natural green surroundings, is terrific value for money. For people not hung up on brand or 5 star amenities, this is the place to be. The more the merrier. Tarun Mukherjee/ Managing Director, Indian Valve Pvt Ltd & Alumni of Pant College of Technology, Nainital (1968 batch) PS : From the front office which is on road level, one has to descend and walk about 3 flights of stairs/steps to reach the ocean side villas and the main (banyan tree) restaurant. I did see a 4 or 5 feet wide concrete stretch of pathway from yet another entry gate, leading up to the lower rooms in the villa, suggesting probably the property is wheel chair friendly. When they didn't get back to me after repeated calls and reminders I should have taken that as a sign from above and tried another place. My wife and I were attending a wedding in Goa. Booked this place place because of its proximity to the venue. Yes, I got carried away by the description of cottages practically on the beach. The view is indeed terrific and some of the staff members are friendly. The pool is nice with good depth. That's about it. After that it's all downhill. I believe we had one of the better rooms. It was just too basic for the price. I have stayed in far better rooms at government run resorts. The management hasn't spent much time training their staff. 00:30 night when we reached after travelling on a much delayed flight, the first thing that we had to do was pay for our second night. We had already paid for the first in advance. It's a small issue, but shows lack of training. And very unfortunately, we have been used to a lot more pampering at hotels/resorts in Goa. One morning someone tried to forcibly enter our room with a master key. He claimed it was to deliver a message, as our phone was not reachable. On reporting to the front desk, they first tried justifying, then pleaded complete ignorance and then promised to check and find out. Needless to say, they were not aware of any message to be delivered. Even by the time we checked out 24 hours later they didn't bother to get back. Forget about any apology. This particularly, is disgraceful for any hotel or resort. Not even bothering to get back; that just makes it worse. On the day of departure, after agreeing to let us check out after an hour, the bellboy nearly tore the door down at the official check out time, i.e. an hour earlier than agreed. This time I didn't bother calling the front desk. I was familiar with their routine by then. The ineptitude of the managers and staff really got on our nerves, making this our worst stay ever in Goa. We understand laid-back, but this was inhospitable and uncaring.
