Luxury Beach Front Cottages

We stayed at Blue Lagoon Resort for couple of days during our visit to Goa. The place was bit empty as it was just the start of the season. Pros: Beach front property Great and calm place to relax Clean rooms Cons: Indians not treated well, as they treat foreigners Average food Less food menu options Expensive for the service offered Rooms were decent enough and washrooms could be improved. Not a cozy stay though !! We took the garden view rooms, but felt the beach front rooms we better structured. Felt the place is bit overpriced. Restaurant was good, but not offering variety of food. We had breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. They did not have much varieties of Fishes to offer, although being a beach front property. No prawns were available. They served boiled potatoes in the name of hashbrown for breakfast. Not many varieties of beer was available too. All dishes did not taste good

We stayed in one of the huts on the beachfront. A great setup. The room was really nice and an impressive bathroom too. The sea view was stunning. The room had ants but that was ok. Were in a hut on a beach. There was no hot water but the weather was so hot so this was ok. The food in the restaurant was quite good. I can recommend the chilli chips, pancakes and the dal! The service was fine too. It could come across as grumpy but think it was just the way they are. I would recommend they put a small fridge in the huts for beer and water. More sun beds on the beach would be good too as there are not many. Also the internet was hit and miss but more miss. It was really cheap. We spent around 60 in 3 days on food and drink. I do think 2 nights would have been enough as it is very quiet as you would expect in the evenings. It was a challenge getting here. We may have gone wrong as there are steps I am told. We had a taxi drop us half way down the hill on a dirt track but in the midday heat this caused problems with a case each and a backpack. A bad start but we soon recovered. A great experience all in all.

I stayed at Blue Lagoon, Cola beach on 26th April, 2018 along with my wife, two year old daughter and mother in law. I had booked two Jungle View Cottages. My struggle with this place started with finding out the location. In the confirmation voucher (booking.com) the hotel has shared a link for directions but that link had expired! I called several times on the phone number listed but nobody answered. With great difficulty I managed to locate the place. The last one kilometer is a trail and is not motorable. Apart from dirt bikes and rented activas it is unfit for any kind of vehicle. I drove my Skoda Rapid in this place and it was absoluty heart wrenching to subject my 8 month old car to this torture. Good resorts have their own arrangement to transport guests under these conditions. There is no on premises parking. Vehicles need to be parked on a cliff and there is no security. After parking the vehicle on the cliff comes the real challenge of descending down several hundred steps. I did this carrying my two year old daughter in my arms. After sunset, this becomes dangerous as the entire path is unlit and one wrong step could be fatal. After these travails, I reach the "Reception" which is actually a bar counter to confirm my reservation. Reservation is confirmed but I had to beg several times to send some help to fetch my luggage. They are totally apathetic towards the hardships of the guests!. No welcome, forget welcome drink! We ordered veg fried rice which was bland and decided not to eat any further here. Even mineral water is unavailable. There is a local brand of water that is served. There is no mobile signal and no wi-fi. Therefore, we could not plan our activites. We decided not to spend too much time in this god forsaken place and decided to drive to Madgao for the evening. We drove back and came back around 9 PM and checked out at 7:30 AM the following morning. We did not bathe as there is no hot water available! Bathroom itself can be seen from outside. Also, one commode did not have a health faucet. No shampoos, toothpaste nothing. Bed linen was dirty and musty. Never ever would recommend this to anybody.

If you have been dreaming about living on the beach, try staying at the Blue Lagoon Resort with its relaxed and friendly service. Simple accommodations at a couple of different pricing levels, an excellent restaurant, and a clean, swimmable beach that I had mostly to myself when I was visiting. The clear water lagoon is a great alternative to cool off as there a no currents or swells to worry about. I loved sitting at the porch of my superior sea view cabin watching the changing colors of the sea at sunset. If you are into getting a massage then check out the onsite spa. The relaxed, simple, unspoiled setting make this a destination for any globetrotter.
