Cancio's homestay is a quaint little home tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Goa in a quaint little village. We were there on work for 2 days and wanted a place of quiet and Cancio's was a great place. They cooked some home cooked food for dinner and we had the company of the family to talk to at dinner.

We were travelling with our child for the first time & were a tad nervous but Roberto & Raquel did everything to make us feel comfortable. Their experience of handling 3 of their own helped us as well. Aldona is about an hour Northwards from the airport. Its a nice quite village with a quaint church, a river, great roads & some very warm people. The ancestral home is a wonderful place for kids to grow up & i am actually quite envious of Roberto & Raquel's 3 sons since we dont find such open spaces in the city. It was a welcome detox from the mundane city life. Our holiday was made particularly special thanks to the spread that Raquel laid out. Dont miss out on the chicken vindaloo & some of the veg coconut preparations. Each meal was accompanied by dessert , i really wasnt expecting home baked cake & brownie. Breakfast was omelette pav with some home made jams. The most important part of the meal was that we all ate together in the kitchen dining area & were not treated like guests. I could use adjectives like awesome, spellbound, amazed, enthralled but none of it will get the point across, you really need to take the trip to Aldona & meet Roberto & Raquel & enjoy the environs of Cancio's house. I am sure you will have some great stories to share just as i have ! Bon Voyage !!

This was our first time in a homestay and Cancio's house made it so wonderful that I don't have enough words to explain. Roberto, Raquel and the entire family made our stay very comfortable, safe and happy. We felt like we are with our own family with them. To add to it, you get fresh water, air and food. Rooms are beautiful and set in portugese style. Raquel even packed dinner for my four year old son which really touched my heart. From now on, if it's North Goa, then it's Cancio's for us...Thank you for the care you took for us and our son..

We stayed with the Amarals in March (2018) this year. While we usually stay in homes and villas, this stay was a different experience for us as the Amarals stay on the same property and the two rooms are an extension of the main house. We understand that there maybe another room that is sometimes available for stay. The main home is a gorgeous old Goan house. All the meals are with the family in their house. You can also eat out at many of the restaurants around neighbourhood or outside. Roberto and Raquel offer many suggestions. Naicavaddo in Aldona is away from the tourist-belt and yet accessible easily to beaches and other places by scooter or a taxi. There are many places around the village for wonderful walks. The house and its gardens are very very peaceful. Living in the same compound also gives you a glimpse into the life and rhythms of a typical day in a Goan family Roberto and Raquel manage this homestay efficiently and all the logistics for the stay. The Amarals are a lovely family for company and generously extend their genuine affection, stories, warmth, energy, tips and delicious meals cooked by Raquel. The rooms are large, well-lit and with a lovely porch looking out into a beautiful garden. In the month of March,we did not miss air-conditioning. The rooms offer amenities and furniture that make your stay comfortable and laid-back. It is very good value for the price. Taxi pick-up and drop at the airport can be arranged through Roberto. This is a lovely place to stay if you are looking for a peaceful quiet retreat.

We stayed for three days and wanted to enjoy the monsoons and stay at peace undisturbed. the place did full justice to our stay and experiences. Amaral's just went out of the way to make us comfortable. Our expectations were really low and we were surprised to the better. Great things - peaceful place, family environment, stories of all kinds, support, friendliness Good - rooms, food Not so good - mosquitoes in the room, lack of food options around the place (other than this homestay) So advice is to stay here if you are seeking a local pleasure and not a hotel stay.
