This is more of a hostel than a hotel though the rooms are separate. Best for a group of friends or solo travelers. Not much recommended for families. Very close to Anjuna beach and that's the best part. Staff are cordial. No toiletries will be provided. Just stay and move on. Kiara B&B in Vagator is a better alternative for family travelers.

Our stay at Kiara Hotel was great! The host was wonderful. He helped arrange a plan for sightseeing and had great recommendations. He also arranged a driver for us to for a day trip to the spice farms. It was very relaxing during monsoon season. It would be a very nice place during peak season because its so close to the beach and walking distance to a nice bar/restaurant, Curlies. This is a great place to stay for a great price - highly recommend!

Hotel is close to the beach. They lie about everything on the booking sites. No toilet paper no soap/shampoo no towels poor breakfast thin mattress lots of mosquitoes. just a bad choice, look some more. Only take cash.

This is a relatively good choice for this who would like to be just a few steps from the beach. Rooms are clean with a double bed but (for me the bed was a bit too hard). The manager of this place is really nice and helpful person. But he tries to do all the duties some self.

We arrived early from the night train (around 0800/0830am) which is understandably too early to check in. Now, to put this into perspective we had departed the night train around 0645 and got into a taxi at 0700. It's quite a distance from the station, and Kiara beach hotel is not on a main road. You will need to do some walking to get here! Bear in mind the reception is a tiny room; there are no facilities available until you can check in which can be problematic. On arrival the receptionist, and indeed any other staff member, was nowhere to be seen and we were informed by another guest that she had not seen him for at least an hour. When he arrived he spoke very little English (which is odd as the booking stated that they spoke English here). We informed him best we could that we were aware we were early, but he clearly did not understand and kept telling us to check in at midday. We had used Booking.com for this reservation where we were told we would receive priority early check in and a welcome drink. I asked if there might be a toilet I could use before checking in, and again he did not understand and I resorted to finding a concealed spot down the road. On our second morning I heard other guests having the same problem we had had the day previously with the receptionist, so clearly our experience was not a one off but rather an everyday occurrence. My friend insisted on seeing the room before we paid for it, which the receptionist was not keen to do. We have since discovered reviews on Booking.com after we made this reservation saying the room they were given was entirely different to the one pictured so take care to check the room before you part with any cash. We eventually got into our room at 10:30am (after falling asleep in the reception area and being tutted at by the semi present receptionist who suggested we sleep on the beach. Nice one dude, I'll go sleep on the beach with all my valuables on me. I think not). Once we were in the room my travel companion popped out to make a phone call when the receptionist popped up again and asked if I smoke. Not sure why he would make that assumption. I can't tell if I feel sorry for the guy in charge as there doesn't appear to be anyone else helping him out, perhaps this is why he came across as arrogant and unhelpful? Not the attitude I've come across anywhere else in India which is a real shame. The room was alright I suppose. There were beds and a bathroom which were more or less fit for purpose. One of my pillows had what looks like a blood stain on it, which was a nice touch. No hot water at all, no toilet roll or the toiletries promised in the original booking. The wardrobe promised in the reservation, not that we wanted a wardrobe mind, is little more than a sort of wonky cupboard. We had also booked a room with a partial sea view, and when questioned the kindly gent who works here showed us the bathroom (?) there was no sea view whatsoever, although the sea is close by. Cracked tiling around the door made opening and closing the door a real problem. The wifi was pretty dreadful, didn't work at all if the door to the room was shut. There is a sign outside that says wifi costs 50 rupees a day, so maybe there's a paid option that is faster. I didn't bother finding out. Our room included breakfast but based on everything else we saw during our stay here, did not bother with the food. For dining go to the sunset bar and cafe just across the way, it's reasonably priced with beautiful sea views, and id feel much more comfortable eating there. On our final morning, despite our checkout time being quite clearly between 10:30-11am on our reservation, the guy was knocking at our door just after 10 to ask us if we were checking out. Overall I wouldn't stay here again; the proximity to the beach is nice and it's quite peaceful at night but I'm sure there are nicer places to stay in Anjuna (sunset bar and guest house nearby is much nicer, and appears to have much nicer staff!) Two stars as the location is nice but everything was was utterly abhorrent and a complete and utter mess from the get go.
