    Very Good!

    What's Good: Location,beach

What needs to improve : Service, attitude

Reason For Rating : We faced a bit of a high handed attitude of the hotel staff. Rooms were not ready at check in at 430pm, door locks malfunction at 10pm in the night and we are asked to wait , housekeeping does not clean rooms and do not offer apology. This is my second stay here and maybe it was better before Novotel took over.

  • Another week at this truly delightful resort

    by wetty on

I first came here last February with my 4 sisters on a girl's week away, the resort's settings, staff, food which were excellent made me determined to return, this time with my husband who is not only a great lover of Indian food but insists on the best surroundings in which to enjoy his holiday. The Dona Sylvia ticked all the boxes. All the rooms are either bungalows or two-story blocks. Each room has its own large terrace or balcony depending on which floor you were on. I requested via Tui for an upper room that caught the sun in the afternoon. Following a warm welcome from the reception staff who were busy due to the arrival of a very large wedding party image our delight in being allocated a room that fitted our request. All staff were always attentive, polite and always tried their best to help. The resort is well laid out in garden avenues. Turning to the food because Indian dishes which were always available there was always a good variety of international fare, the standard of which was excellent. The swimming pool is large and we always found loungers available when we needed then but to be honest, we spent the majority of our time at the beach (golden sands) which is reached by a walk through the gardens of the resort. Lastly the room well stayed in which was typical was air conditioned but at the same time airy. Our room staff were always on had to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and presentation. We will be returning as soon as commitments allow

My first time to Goa so not surewhat to expect have to say we both loved the very long sandy beach.the weather was great very low humidity , Karen the TUI rep was was best rep we have had in all our years of travel she was very helpful to everyone.the restaurant staff are more than helpful The best of our waiters was Demo Arron Aldrin& Rachel . All the chefs were amazing best of all was Soumik who when I could not eat the other food would go and make me veg noodles .The rooms could do with a Litle bit of work on them. When I found our beds to hard our room boy Sahel went out of his way to get mattress topper and move the beds. The pool is great there is always sun beds. The shacks on the beach are great f so cheep you can spend all day on them for the price of a beer the best one is Rosarios beach shade shack. We spend all day with 2 sun beds 2large beers 2large bottles of water and 2 lunches 8.the only things we did not like was we went for a relaxing holiday and we were not told how intrusive the noise from so many weddings were there were every where, by the pool on the beach an in the gardens with the biggest speakers. And if you do not like the sound of jets going round @ round breaking the sound barrrier making you jump of the sun beds none of which we were warned about you will some days find it hard to relax.

Stayed for 2 weeks in January. The hotel staff are amazing. Hotel very clean. Plenty of sunbeds, no need to get up at stupid a clock to get one. Food is amazing, as long as you like curry. But having said that, there are always other options to choose from. The executive chef and his other chefs are very helpful, and very approachable if you are struggling with the choices on offer. There are so many wonderful staff that I would like to mention, but that would be impossible, but special thanks to Gita,at front of house. And also Tanway, the barman. It is extremely safe to go out of the hotel and onto the beach. You do get the beach sellers, but they are not over pushy for you to buy and are quite happy to chat to you to improve their English. Even if you are All inclusive, please try the beach shacks. The food is amazing and soooo cheap. The only criticism is that there isn't enough storage in the rooms. And the rooms are dark as you cannot raise the blinds as everyone can see in your room. Having said that, we have booked to go back in December.
