very outdated and not at all comfortable , electrics dodgy and the whole hotel is so run down . bedrooms are awful . I would never go here again .. if you have kids AVOID. The breakfast is toast and an egg , you will never be full up. Bar has nothing to write home about .

We stayed at the santa Monica on our first visit to Goa in February 2018. The staff were very friendly and go out of their way to help you, you only have to ask!! The room was clean, bedding and clean towels every day and bottled water topped up in the fridge. People must remember....do not stay 2/3 star rating and expect a 5 star hotel!!!! We booked a pool facing room and if you request that on your booking then that's what you will get. The hotel is ideally situated for both beach, restaurant's and shops. The guys at reception asked us if we had any ideas or things they thought they could improve on and we suggested some authentic Indian entertainment instead of English all of the time and within a few days they had organised a fun day celebrating Holi....shame it was after we had left!! We also mentioned pool side bins needed to be changed and once again new bins within two days! The food was delicious and of high quality and the staff do their best to accommodate your tastes. I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again....thank you to all the staff for a great three week stay in room 212. Debbie and nick xx

Hi all , stayed at Santa Monica jan/feb 2018. This was my first time in India, first time in goa and first time at this hotel. I can really recommend this hotel whilst the rooms are quite basic they are kept very clean by the room boys who keep them to a very high standard well done boys!!! All the hotel staff are very polite and without exception go out of there way to make sure you have a great stay. I found goa to be a magical place with loads to see and do the beaches are very clean and have a good selection of beach huts for drinks and food. Goa s population is made up of Hindus Muslims and Christians who all get on well together and live together in harmony, wish that England was like this!!!!! I have just booked to go back to goa in feb/2019 for 3 weeks and have booked the Santa Monica again, I send my best wishes to all at Santa Monica and look forward to my visit next year. Xxx

I always find myself getting annoyed with people on TA who expect five star service/facilities/treatment without paying for it. For me (and perhaps Im wrong) how you rate something should be relative to your financial outlay and this is a three star hotel. For anyone viewing their stay here with trepidation due to some of the negative reviews, dont worry. Yes, the rooms are quite basic but, hello, that is what you have paid for! Closer examination will reveal comfy beds with new mattresses and mattress toppers. Also a fridge (very useful), modern and efficient air con and a spacious bathroom with a large shower. The room is cleaned and towels are changed daily. What more could you want? Breakfast is decent and consists of tea, coffee, toast and eggs cooked freshly and how you like them. It is easily upgraded at very little cost if you want more. The food is also good, we ate lunch here several times and were impressed. In fact, both my husband and I thought the dal was the best we had all holiday. The staff are exceptional, nothing is too much trouble for them and this includes everyone from the management and security guard to the lads who do the housekeeping. On the last day we were allowed to keep our room until 9pm at night for a modest sum of money, which made a real difference to how we spent our time. This was much appreciated and very flexible. We noticed that other guests also took advantage of this. The hotel could charge a lot more for this, they have essentially got people over a barrel, as nobody wants to vacate their room at lunchtime when the transfer back isnt until 22.00, but they dont! We are not in the habit of returning to the same place twice, but this is the only reason I will probably not return here. This hotel is clean, friendly and represents good value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and if you have booked it, you will too.

We stayed at the Santa Monica our 14th visit for 21 nights from 23rd January. We recieved a warm welcome from the reception staff and room boys even though it was 2am. Our pool facing room on the first floor, no lifts at this hotel, was clean and spacious and consisted of a separate lounge area, bathroom with shower, kitchen area with sink and well stocked fridge and bedroom with balcony . We had clean bed linen and towels every day. We knew from previous stays that the beds are very firm as only thin mattresses, but observed that new thick mattresses were being introduced. Our room boys were great, nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was included in our package, this consisted of toast, jam, eggs and fruit juice, but a menu was available at reasonable prices. The waiters were are very friendly and efficient again nothing was too much trouble. We didnt have any other meals there but the menu and specials board offered a wide variety of choice at a good price. Security is provided 24 hrs, and the use of a safe in a locked room at a nominal charge is available. CCTV in the corridors and around the hotel have been installed since our visit last year. The swimming pool is open between 9am - 6pm, was cleaned several times a week, of a decent size with a separate small childrens pool. Plenty of sun beds around the pool and towels available on asking. The reception staff were very helpful and welcoming, again nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is situated about 8 minutes stroll from the beach, and there are lots of restaurants very close by. It is in a great position to explore either Calangute or Candolim. We have already booked again for next January, and meet the same people year on year which in its self is a good recommendation.
