They cancelled our first night of confirmed booking
by arpitl2017 on
So for the past many years we have been stating at this hotel.only and only for it's proximity to the beach. The breakfast is utterly useless and literally has nothing. The staff had lied Toni's about his name in one of our previous visit. The refrigerator had all icecream spilt inside and the door knobs were broken. The security guard is this old grumpy guy who doesn't even help you a jot!! Instead he makes wierd faces at you. To hell with you guys!! Well once again we booked this place through make my trip and for a confirmed booking. We reached there on the 24th of feb only to be told to us that we do not have any place in the hotel so we can accommodate you guys at the neighbouring hotel. So after 15 minutes of pleading I let it go and we moved in to the so called hotel next door which was worse than a dam guest house! One Anjum at the reception who answered my calls before I flew to Goa also confirmed my booking over the phone. And here at the reception he also had the audacity to say that since it was you and you have been staying here since a long time we did not cancel your booking and we let you come and therefore we give you alternate accommodation at the hotel next door. So basically, they don't inform us prior to we flying down, Then at the reception he makes it look like as if they are doing a favour. The owner Tony told make my trip that there was a technical problem so the booking got confirmed. So in a four to five day visit we keep moving around from hotel to hotel. You guys should be held responsible and I will make sure this time. DAMMIT!! YOU GUYS COULD HAVE CALLED AND SAID THAT YOUR HOTEL IS FULL. I CALLED FIVE TIMES AT THE HOTEL TO CONFIRM OUR BOOKING AND FINALLY SOMEONE CALLED ANJUM CONFIRMS IT. BUT THEY DO NOT EVEN HAVE THE COURTESY TO RENDER AN APOLOGY. INSTEAD WE ARE TOLD THAT THIS IS THE ONLY OPTION AND THEN WE MOVE BACK THE NEXT DAY. WE HAD ENOUGH OF ILL TREATMENT. I WILL INITIATE LEGAL PROCEEDINGS IN MUMBAI COURT! ITS SAD TO SEE THESE PEOPLE BEHAVE DIFFERENTLY WITH FAIR SKINNED FOREIGNERS AND DIFFERENT WITH US. ITS A SHAME ON YOU!!
Great service, lovely food.

We were originally going to book flight only with Thomas Cook but found the package including this hotel to be cheaper. This was our first package holiday which made me a little dubious as Marriott Platinum members were used to 5 star. The friendliness of the team here was just as good. The rooms are basic but have comfortable clean beds and great aircon. The TV, safe and late check out cost extra but are good value. Breakfast consists of eggs, toast, juice, coffee and tea. They do a great scrambled egg. Four free meals were also included and didnt disappoint. The food here was among the best we had this holiday. The Aloo Gobi is excellent as was the complimentary Christmas dinner. The pool is a little small but we were the only people in it. Its a five minute stroll to the beach and the Fort Aguda Rd but you cant even hear it. Also visit Ganeshs Shack on the quiet part of the beach near by, every bit as welcoming as the Sunset!
Tad bit overpriced for a rather sober place

Sunset beach resort is located right on Candolim beach, which is a major plus. However, one must not expect a lively atmosphere since the hotel is tucked away in a quiet lane; which too, for some, is a plus. The rooms are clean, spacious and offer decent views from balconies. Having said that, maintenance is a big problem here. The hotel is understaffed and the service does not justify the cost. I must say that the staff was cordial but the sheer lack of attention for guests is a bit concerning. There is no room service available; this meant that whenever the AC or any other appliance stopped working (which btw happened often), I had to go out, find a staff member, request him to please resolve the issue and wait for him to find time for my grievances. These are not major flaws and could be nelected had the tarrif been half of the current rates. But to pay premium charges for a mediocre stay seems unfair.
value for money

just got back from candolin 7/12/16.after a 2 week stay rooms basic but cleaned regulary, best assett is the staff who work there nothing too much trouble, neil, dominic and exaviare, really look after you, stayed B&B but at welcome meeting found out that there was 4 free meals a week per person, choise of food from the free menu pick any 3 from it ,good food location 5 minuetes from resort just down the road were you,ll find all the shacks on the beach.
Nothing great about this place other than the location!

We 3 friends stayed here for 2 days. The hotel does not take advantage of the great location and the closeness to the beach. We were welcomed by a foul smell as soon as we entered the room. They did not have room fresheners too :( We had to mange by leaving the doors and windows, turn on the AC and fan quite some time to be able to stay there. We made sure we never turned off the AC even while we were out of the room. Breakfast provided here is not good. I would recommend to skip the breakfast and not waste time waiting for the bread, jam/butter, curry and poha/upma which doesn't taste good. The pool is very small but well maintained. Entry to the pool is restricted post 6 PM. There are old tables and chairs lying everywhere, broken ceiling fans and lights. Finally this place needs a major renovation!!
all are set in 2 storey buildings, fans, and a/c in all rooms payable
