The Riverside Palace, at Ashapura Road, was once the residence of the Yuvraj. The princely state of Gondal is known for its Huzoor Palace Complex housing separate wings of the palace. Amongst these is the colonial style building of the Riverside Palace, which is located in the gardens besides a river. /n/nThe Riverside Palace has now been converted into a heritage hotel.
The colonial European charm of the building has been retained in the 11 rooms, which are spacious and ostentatiously done with period furniture. Apart from being authentically decorated, the rooms have basic in-room amenities and attached baths with running hot and cold water.
The hotel lobbies are embellished with historic photographs of the royal family and their guests, as well as beautiful paintings./n/nThe palace also houses a beautifully appointed sitting room, which is decorated with beadwork and brassware from the family's own collection.
There is a glass-walled gallery on the rooftop of the Riverside Palace, which provides a magnificent view of the gushing river. The Huzoor Palace Complex houses a collection of vintage cars, which is literally a treat to watch.
The hotel also organises sightseeing trips and excursions to prominent places around Gondal to make guests' stay a pleasurable one.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with a group. Our room was large, comfortable and very beautiful. We experienced wonderful meals in the very grand dining room. The staff were very cheerful and friendly. It is an easy walk to town from the hotel and it is also close to the beautiful temple Shri Swaminarayan Mandir. Gondal itself has a very friendly feel to it. We would stay here again. It is a shame that the garden is so bare due to the weddings that are apparently held here. It would be a very beautiful garden, backing on to the river. This was the only negative for us.

The manager of the heritage hotels managed to organize an extremely loud marriage at 5m from our and other rooms. I have nothing against Indian marriages but would be great to know at least when you are attending one. Extremely disrespectful to hotel customers.

This is a heritage palace converted into a hotel. We visited this place on our way to Junagarh, more like a monument. Not very charming as this was not the main palace of the king, hence this is not as big as you would expect a palace to be. This is more like a huge haveli than a palace, wooden stairs, different sized room, old furniture but not from the same era!! Be prepared to remove your shoes before entering the palace!!

Quite remarkable, all faded grandeur and Victorian kitsch...the staff are hugely hospitable and the rooms are without a doubt odd. Mine was vast with the longest walk to the bathroom I've ever encountered in an en-suite. I slept wonderfully well but this could have been due to the mozzie spray that I had the room blitzed with...Beware it is the riverside and the mozzies dance and prosper. Great position and grounds, food ok.
