Perfect balance of rustic and modern comfort
by ksmnta on
This place is a jungle resort and some three or four years ago it had a change of management. The negative reviews you see maybe from the days under previous management. Too us this was possibly one of the better jungle resort we stayed. When you travel with kids, staying in rustic places can be a bit of a constraint. This resort balances it out well. All rooms are on stilt. Being away from ground, in a jungle filters out bulk of insects. From inside the rooms very spacious, comfortable and well built. They have a balcony too. But the hotel is on the outer periphery of the jungle. Hence it's full of animals. Monkeys are common and even the tiger does visit it sometimes. Late night out in the open and your ears will be full of noises you yearn. Their service and food are their high point. Dinner services are outside their dinning room, in the open. On dinner service was amidst oil lamps and it was heavenly. Food tastes good and there is variety. They don't have intercom but that's the only negative.
Best location ever

Just got back from an AMAZING stay as Asteya. Their location right next to core forest of Nagzira is one of the best wildlife lodge locations ever. Food, service and hospitality is top notch with clean spacious rooms and balconies overlooking jungles. Splendid experience. Their in- house naturalist Saket is extremely knowledgable and interactive which made our stay wonderful. Smiling staff and excellent management- cant wait to revist.

Fantastic safaris, beautiful jungles. Nice, well-fitted rooms, great food, exceptional service. To top it all off, we spotted a couple of leopards! Approach road is a little tricky but the google map location is accurate.

We visited Asteya Nagzira in May 2019. It's a wonderful place, staff is very courteous. The resort has spacious rooms and gives one a feel of the wilderness and calm, what one yearns for in a busy city life. Both Akshendra and Wasim are great hosts. Our family friends and their 24 year old daughter were accompanying us. The daughter was quite grumpy since the parents had rescheduled a Singapore holiday for this wildlife trip. The young girl had zero interest in wildlife. But the first safari with Wasim, his passion and enthusiasm for the wilderness, nature, conservation rubbed off a lot on the girl. Before the trip she had thrown a major tantrum for no cellphone access for hours but all of that was forgotten and forgiven. Our next safari was with Akshendra and there were a lot of thought provoking discussions about how ethical it is to ride on an elephant to see wild animals.Of course what helped soothe the girl's nerves and ours was that they serve delicious and mindblowing food. After braving temperatures of 48 degrees and the heat and the dust, we were welcomed with very refreshing buttermilk, lassi, fresh lime and of course wet napkins. All in all a great experience, this resort is absolutely value for money. The only regret, is not staying there for a few more days.

Cottage nearest to reception has forest right in the back of the room. Witnessed a Bison grazing a few feet away.
