We had visited Kismat Residency for a family gathering and this resort has a very good location and beach is directly accessible from resort backyards. We had booked around 6-7 rooms for a group of 13-14 people and staff was good but room quality is just average and can be improved. Resort owners are good and helping. Food was OK and only plus was beach location. Rooms are compact and can improve on ventilation side.

Nice hotel with access to sea. You will find very few hotels in Guhaghar with lodging facility, Bar as well as access to sea. Rooms are ok. Surrounding is nice. Food is average. If you are group of people then i will surely recommend this hotel.

Good service. Food not available. Near to beach and quiet surrounding. Nice place to stay with friends and family. Mr Padwal is reachable anytime. This place has a good parking place for cars. Near to this Vyadeshwar Vihar restaurant is available(best homely food).

Based in the scenic location, right on the beach, yes, You read me right. On the beach, Kismat Residency is a modest accommodation in Guhagar. Mr. Ashok Padwal and his wife, Mrs. Akhila Padwal have made it a point to make your trip to Guhagar worthwhile not only through their homely hospitality but also through their lip smacking cuisine. The resort has 18 rooms with modern amenities with attached washrooms. I am told that there is a dorm. too for about 8-10 people and there are double rooms occupying about 2 families. Facilities to stay and freshen-up are also offered for your drivers. I also know for a fact that large group trips can also be arranged with your own cooking, if agreed up well in advance. If you are lucky and Mr. Padwal is around, you can butter him to allow more people in the room. He would be hesitant at first but then he would agree, this is why I call it 'Homely'. You are the luckiest if you find Mrs. Padwal around. If she is not sewing then she is mostly found in the kitchen preparing the most amazing soul food. She can be buttered too.... she will treat you like her daughter/son from the past life! She makes some of the most amazing, sumptuous and out of this world delicacies that you have not heard of, if you are not a maharashtrian or are not much aware of the Maharashtrian 'Konkani/ Bhandari' food, both in veg and non-veg. You also get some Chinese and Punjabi dishes and their regular veg/ non-veg thali. If you are in the fish breeding season esp. between October - March, you can feast on some of the most awesome fresh and to die for sea food. You would have definitely put on more weight when you leave the place. Well, see I got carried away, hmm, I was talking about Mrs. Padwal, she is the master chef around, the other cooks around dare add a little more ingredient to the food and they are dead, if only her looks could kill ; ) If you are travelling with younger kids, its is the most hassle free place. They would allow you to enter their kitchen to whip up a quick porridge or even make your own the 'Kheemath - soft dal rice fed to young children', warm food, etc. upon request. If Mrs. Padwal is around, you do not bother, you make a sorry puppy face and she would do it for you. Parenting and child rearing lessons come free as a condiment. Believe you me, you will remember those lessons for your life and carry them as a legacy in your family ; ) If you are travelling as a couple or as a family, you will be particularly liked ; ) The staff are also very cooperative and will do you little favors when asked of. The rooms are spacious enough for a family of 3-4 people (2 adults+ 2 children). Often you would hear children screaming through the corridors since they enjoy the 'homely atmosphere'. Those who have a problem to that, would have to request for some peace of the other guests through the staff. But believe me, you are not going to stay locked up in your rooms, even if you wanted to read a book, you will choose to go down the beach side. Here you have a choice, you can choose to sit on one of the benches by the shore or go to the adjoining 'Suru che van' aka Beach Sheok trees, if you may please. Don't forget to breathe in the energy and fresh air that can last you until your next trip. While you are in the lobby do not miss to read little boards of poems and sayings that Mr. Padwal has written. Very inspiring indeed! There is a small little pool for children and play area. There's the whole beach for yourself, but swimming in the sea is on your personal risk. Guhagar is otherwise a pilgrimage sight. People come here to make their annual visit to the Vhyadeshwar Mandir. But that's not all to the place, if you have enjoyed the road trip to Guhagar and you haven't had enough, then go explore the adjoining villages, one of them is Dabhol and do not miss to go over the fish market in the evenings. Its a lovely trawler ride to Dabhol. You can also take a sneak peak of the infamous Enron Project on the way. You would also see some lovely old houses and their beautiful architecture that beats the modern architectural designs any time. Mr. Padwal also has another property in the vicinity, in fact two properties, one which he has developed in residential buildings and the other a beautiful mango orchard, called as Ashok Amravan. Its a beautiful little property going down to a little stream at the end of the hillock. There is also a fish pond that cultures fresh water fish and lot many vegetable and fruit plantations. Children can have a little trek here, they simply enjoy their brush with the nature. The caretaker will very elaborately explain the reasons to why he has some plastic and tin cans hung upside down the trees. These are to scare away wild animals who trespass in the property. So which are these wild animals -wild boars, monkeys, Nil Gai (Asian Antelopes) and you would not have enough of the leopard stories, the care taker has to tell. One can actually have a day's picnic organized at this site. This property too has a residential facility, in fact a much much spacious one and beautiful but honestly you need to be in large numbers to enjoy it since it can get little eerie if its just a small group unless you are courageous enough to stand the dark view of the trees once it the night. But it can be good adventure. Actually you can divide the stay of your trip between both these places. Please note that the tariff is different for this than the beach resort. If you are looking for a short 3-4 day trip, and you have all the luxury of time in this world, Guhagar is a must visit, at least once in your life time. If I had the option, I would have enlisted in the 1000 places to visit before you die, but sigh I don't. Unfortunately, during the holidays, vacations and longish weekends, the place is pre-booked. Do not land up there thinking you will get on the spot rooms, to avoid disappointment. Be smart, plan your holiday in advance and pre-book, that's the mantra! If you like the place, let me know, I will ask for a discount from Mr. Padwal for making free publicity for Kismat Residency!!!! ___ Rakshanda Inam
