  • A decent budget hotel at Gulmarg near the Gondola

by ajithkurianak on April 25, 2017

Visited Gulmarg along with family and stayed at the Pine Palance resort for one night. A decent place quite near the gondola. Room was a bit cramped for four of us. But it was warm inside. Staff was courteous and helpful. Food was OK. Would recommend for stay for a day....

  • Great for winter

    by Doobsie139 on March 26, 2017

This isn't the fanciest hotel in the world, but if you're visiting in the winter and doing winter sports it's ideal. We stayed in the annexe up the hill. The room was a little tired, but clean, and most importantly, very warm. Also the shower was very hot. So perfect for us. We ate down in the main building as there was a bit more of an atmosphere. If you're veg (as we are) the probably best to order from the menu rather than have the buffet. Portions are big and the food is pretty good. Staff were all very nice to us.

  • Decent Hotel veyr near to Gondola

    by Rucha121 on December 18, 2016

We had planned our Honeymoon in Kashmir and booked our package through online travel portals. So, they had booked this hotel based on the budget. After we arrived in this hotel, we found long fleet of stairs to reach reception. Rooms are not very big or too spacious, but are good enough for 1-2 days stay. Biggest advantage is Gondola ride is nearby. Our package included Breakfast and Dinner, both were served here and since we are vegetarian, we had specifically asked our Travel Portal to ensure of the same in all hotels we stayed. Don't expect great room experience, as you will be enjoying Gondola Ride. You can book Gondola ride online. Agents will charge extra. And, in Kashmir, everyone asks 'Bakshish' meaning tips, so, even when you check-in/ check-out, the reception boys will come behind you asking for same.

  • A gem of a budget hotel with grand service

    by cassanova78 on July 11, 2016

We were 3 families and were put up for one night in khaleel palace n one night in this gem of a hotel as khaleel did not have rooms for us for the second day and believe me when I tell you this that this turned out in our favour. Khaleel though having better reviews turned out to be a disappointment in comparison to this hotel in terms of service n food both. While staying at khaleel, we got up in the morning to check out this hotel, after informing the manager Mr Safi (not sure about the name) that we were expected later in the day n had just come to check out the rooms. He gladly showed us around, offered us tea n breakfast even though we were not staying there, showed us the rooms, restaurant, lounge etc. He even gave us tips for visiting the main attraction, the apharwat peak. He told us not to worry and that he would co ordinate with khaleel n transfer our luggage while we were sightseeing. Unknown to us he even contacted the khaleel reception to get the luggage picked up early so that he could give us good rooms. Although the basic rooms were just that , very basic, out of the 3 rooms , mine was the smallest with no view, my friends got a view of the apharwat peak and a little better rooms. But the real winner here was the service n the food served. We were dead tired after visiting the peak for the whole day , n upon returning the staff was very helpful in giving us access to the rooms quickly, even asked if we wanted some tea which we declined. After freshening up all of us went to the lounge where we were told we could also drink our own alcohol if we wanted. They had a very private sit out area in the lounge for a small group n we sat there both times that we went to the lounge. The dinner n breakfast served was very good indeed, much better than all the hotels that we stayed in Kashmir, in breakfast they even had onion pakoras for us on requesting one day before, even their service of the restaurant staff was impeccable which left us to rue the fact that we should not have stayed at khaleel at all, this was a much more pretty hotel with a cute garden ( even served us tea here on request) and a small water canal which had the most soothing sound and could be heard from anywhere in the hotel. The staff took care of our rented boots n coats for the entire stay n kept it ready when we were leaving. The rooms n bathrooms are very basic in this hotel as it is a budget hotel as mentioned before. The hotel even has a modern new wing which is said to be better v but I do not know of the services there. All in all this hotel unforgettably added to our stay in gulmarg . Only one point as the his hotel is built on a small hillock , there are 12 to 15 steps which one has to climb so if you have senior citizen who cannot climb at all then go for khaleel or some other hotel
