What's Good: Stayed with family of 4 , overall a pleasant stay , due to heavy rush , we felt the hotel was under staff . But overall a great place to see Gulmarg and it's the only 5 star in the vicinity .

I have been attempting to book a room here over the Christmas period for the past 2 years now and I always end up reacting a little late by when all rooms get lapped up. This time not to be outdone I ensured I was miles ahead and had a lovely "Gulmarg View with Balcony room" waiting for me. I had high expectations of the hotel and rightly so, it's website and promotional video are one of the finest I have ever seen and being a seasoned traveller was a few percentile sceptical that it might be as one would expect "dressed up" for the promotion material. I went about the hotel with a fine tooth comb looking for reasons to give them a thumbs down and boy was it tough. The pictures of the rooms / bathrooms etc are an exact representation of the hotel and this is a rarity. On check in we were greeted by the lovely Ms Khalida (who upon reading this will remember I promised to give a fair unbiased review on check out :) There was lovely Cava a hot local beverage that was served to all of us and the check in procedure was flawless. I did arrive at about 4 and probably missed the rush since check in is at 2 and I recommend this during the peak season if your not the wait patiently type. We had stayed for 3 nights over the Christmas period and you can't get more festive than that. They had a Santa Clause prancing around giving out sweets to the kids on demand through the day, a nice little touch I must say. The Breakfast buffet had a mix of Indian and continental fare enough for everyone to indulge in as per ones palate. I do recommend as I did with the check in, however the reverse in this case show up early as there is a bit of a wait if you come in late in order to get a table. Dinner was a buffet as well though I do recommend going over the Ala carte menu for a more robust choice especially if your looking to sample various types of ethnic non vegetarian fare. They do have a few on the buffet but if you want the real kickers be prepared to order from the menu. I have seen a few reviews where people complain that the restaurant is expensive, my answer is Khyber is not exactly a budget property, if you can afford the room rates there should he no reason to penny pinch elsewhere. There are a host of guides standing outside the foyer and on day 1 I was not sure if they were there to dive deep into my pockets, then again you can negotiate terms but the service is if I may say so as promised. Do not hesitate to use there services even for a few hundred more it's worth it in terms of convenience. The Spa run by Loccitane as all their Spas was exemplary and the pool the finest I have been to in my life in terms of the over all experience. The Jaccuzi was HOT and had 8 seats, and not a lacklustre mildy warm experience that some hotels have for the sake of saying they offer a Jaccuzi. I have read other reviews where one was complaining about the size of the Sauna well it perhaps could have been slightly larger but I'm considering every time I went there was just 1 or 2 other people it did not matter. I also did read a review a few days ago of someone who had a terrible experience thats what one would call the joker in the pack, I also did have a slight issue of a chocked shower drain which was intended to immediately. No hotel is without it's imperfections therefore one must in view of the over all situation allow somethings to pass. I have picked holes in the finest properties on earth that being said were all human. The housekeeping team deserves special mention especially Muzzamil who tended to every need from extra towels to a turn down service without a word. Every time I walked the passages on cue Every single time irrespective of who the staff member was I was greeted throughout my stay with a smile and a Good morning /, evening, it's these little things that go a long way. I did travel by my 8 and 5 year old and if any one needs suggestions on the property with children do write in. My children had a BALL at the Igloo which is basically a den in the basement with a lot of entertainment in tow. I have returned and have recommended the property to my friends and Khyber has already had a few reservations confirmed in view of my excellent experience. I thank everyone at Khyber and will definitely be back dinner than later.

We were there over the new years period with the extended family and the facilities, location, service and can-do approach of staff beats the best in the world. With views from our balconies of the Himalayan View room that took our breath away and snowflakes in our hands-wish we had discovered this earlier than the best resorts of the swiss alps. Mr. Chhabra, the GM leads his team inspiringly and some that stood out during our stay included all the Housekeeping staff (Imran in particular), Mukesh at the coffee shop but above all the superstar who defines the Kashmiri spirit of hospitality was Asif - the airport rep who welcomed us with pride and joyful spirit and managed to pull strings relentlessly when our flights got canceled due to bad weather. Having travelled the world, I recommend this to all with a case of wanderlust-get it on your bucket list !!!

ZERO VALUE FOR MONEY As my title suggests its waste of money I had read a lot and so decided to celebrate my 25th marriage anniversary at this hotel but all my plans and dreams were shattered The positive point of this hotel is its housekeeping staff. 24/7they are ready Your wish is their command Specially Shahbaz Jan Mohammad Yasir Sunita Singh the floor in charge Mr Shyam from banquet is a lovely person Also restaurant is as good as it can get The food served is a treat for your tastebuds and eyes. Please try tomato basil soup Its the food for connoisseur It surely will satisfy ones gastronomic needs Fitness and health centre are a must visit place The pool has a stunning view and is only of a kind The spa also is in comparison with any reputed spas The negative points Rooms are small in size They lack space for your luggage The windows of my room refused to shut in-spite of efforts of the staff It was bitter cold outside and cool air was gushing inside creating a freezing effect After repeated complaints the carpenter arrived and resolved the issue The thermostat was faulty which was repaired afterwards The cable TV connection was out of order The cables were set by evening The washbasin was chocked ,water refuses to drain The hand shower seems to be broken, can fall any time causing injury to the guests Lights not fully operational The bed is 6*8feet in dimensions but wrongly placed.lLength is 6 feet and width 8 feet. The legs dangle outside the bed Steam chamber in spa not working and is to small for 2 persons whereas the bathroom should accommodate a couple theres hardly a space for a single person Bathroom blinds in the room are all messed Bathroom glass partition doesnt have a caution sticker thereby causing head or face injury which I suffered Sorry to say that the management is least interested in the comfort of the guests who shell out huge amount for a pleasant and memorable stay My request for a room change, upgrade fell deaf on the management ears .No response even after repeated reminders Photo 1 Shower stand Photo 2 Chocked wash basin IMr Manzoor Akhtar from the front office when being informed about all this met and sincerely apologised and offered a room upgrade which was too late to do so.To my surprise when I returned to my room it was decorated and a cake was placed. I cant forget this wonderful gesture Mr Manzoor I am still here for a night more of my3 night stay and will return morning with SWEET & SOUR memories

This review is quite a bit late but the memories are very fresh and that feeling of awe still intact. This place really is paradise! The hotel itself is very tastefully done with rich decor. The rooms are very comfy with a balcony that literally takes you out to the Himalayas. The staff deserve a very special mention here. They are such warm people always ready to help. We booked the den for a movie which we enjoyed with yum food served right there. The spa was relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The resort vehicles would be the best way to travel around as it is safe and do ask for Mr Akbar to show you around, a very nice gentleman.

I visited and stayed at Khyber resort with family last month. It was an extremely comfortable and cosy experience right from the moment we set foot on the property. Unfortunately my wife developed some fever before we landed bit Khyber also had an in house doctor who was able to guide us with proper treatment. Overall, the food was sumptuous, facilities were top notch and views were great. The only slight feedback would be to improve the children's play area as the temperature there was not regulated and it was absolutely freezing there. Net net, I will have no hesitation in staying here again on my next trip.
