I booked the Om Villa on telephone for 3 foreign nationals, our corporate guests and avid travellers who wanted to stay in a "local guest house" and not a five star hotel. The guest house had majorly old and cheap furniture but seemed decent for a one night stay. Initially the AC wasn't working but after some time it did start working. The generator did not power the AC it seems. After dumping the luggage, I took my guests out for dinner and further corporate appointments. Sometime later I received a call from the owner who very rudely told me to take the guests away as they weren't allowed to keep foreigners and were scared that they might get into trouble. Apparently the receptionist wasn't informed well enough. After many arguments, I told him that I will return after 3 hours to take the luggage away and check out. In turn, I was rudely threatened by the owner who said that he's a localite and a lawyer and wanted me to take the luggage away within one hour. I repeatedly told him that it's not possible to return within an hour, but he kept on calling and threatening me with his 'contacts'. Eventually, I had to postpone my work and return with my guests. The owner was not even present in person to apologise. The service was not just pathetic on hospitality grounds, but also humanitarian.

Location: Located in a good residential area, it was very clean, quiet and well connected. The nearest Delhi Metro station is Sikandarpur. The hotel can be reached by a cycle/auto rickshaw from the metro station. There are a few shopping malls nearby. Staff: The staff was very friendly. The owner is sensible and a no-nonsense guy. It was a pleasure to interact with them. I stayed here for three days and it was an enjoyable stay. The staff slightly annoyed me with their regular calls to know whether I like to order breakfast/lunch/dinner. I guess I don't need a reminder about my food, considering the kitchen is open almost all the day and there is a menu card in the room. Room: I stayed in a room without a balcony. The room was spacious, clean, and with heating facility in January. There was hot water in the washroom round the clock. Room service was available on a daily basis. Facility: There was wifi and complementary news paper. I should say the food was real terrible. I tried almost every vegetarian dish in the menu and each tasted horrible bad. Sometimes the tea was undercooked (how can it be in a nation of tea drinkers). It was expensive (on par with a upscale restaurant) but I didn't want to travel a couple of kilometers to the mall for better lunch/dinner. The worst thing is, I had to pay an additional 15% tax and 10% service charge for the overpriced and horrible food. The owner should have a serious talk with their chef. The room rates advertised in the website is excluding the tax. Be prepared to pay an additional VAT and luxury tax (not for every room)

Hotel Har Ki Pauri, Hardiwar to Om Villa, Gurgaon. I would leave this one to Brian as its his favourite hotel to stay in, in Delhi; borne out by the owner declaring, "Your husband is not just guest. He is family." But writing these reviews from home here in Manipal now, hes in full Professor mode and Im, well in writing and settling mode. Located in a quiet suburban street, Om Villa is an easy walk to the Metro, shops for supplies, banking or meeting friends as we did. By far the biggest room with the most features, including a fridge, we experienced. The room was serviced everyday: towels, bed made, just like a real hotel should be. And the roof was a clean open space for my yoga practice each morning. When in Delhi ... stay in Gurgaon, especially Om Villa. Now we are going to Love Kush, Agra.

Very caring staff... they paid a lot of attention to our requirements. Made us feel at home and also payed attention to our requests. I would be staying here for all my future stays in gurgaon. Also its location is very helpful no trouble as located near to the main hub of the city. Very convenient.

I have been visiting Delhi a lot may times on official visits and have been staying at a lot of guest houses. I like this place the best because the food is really nice and suites to home like tastes. If you are a corporate and looking to have somewhat close to home food, this is the place to be. Other than the guesthouse is clean and the staff is very homely too..Also its walking distance from the shopping centers and malls.....
