This This feedback is for all those who are looking for a Prompt & Honest feedback about the place, and wanting to get a best birds eyeview before they Travel for a place not visited before. In short, you should take this info to be used for your judgement and happiness. I try to be candid, open, honest and upfront in giving all those happened to me, and by no way I am writing basis any hearsay. This feedback is direct from me and not run thru any agency who generally take money for writing Good, Bad and Ugly reviews ---:)))))) and they are making money with this as well. But, I trust Trip Advisor considering, I also refer to TA before embarking on trip and enhance it for all common person who wants his money's worth is addressed. By the way, I am Mohan from Bangalore, visited The karle, Sakleshpur homestay along with my relatives total 6 members. Here is the summary. * Location map as per Google is not accurate, once you reach Mosale Hosahalli - call the homestay person to get directions. Don't go with GPS till end, as it will mislead * From Mosale Hosahalli main road, it takes 15minutes on a small tar/mud road leading to this place, cars with low ground clearance can also go, and the only thing, if any vehicle comes in opposite direction, there is no way you can give way or go sideway, as there is steep slope on one side, and water on other side, so be careful * Karle homestay guys called me one day before to inform the contact person and their number to reach out and ask for any specific needs * made booking reservation with about 25% advance via online payment, and they specifically told me to give rest of the amount by CASH only - 75% and there is no bill, just white paper and no receipt. Doesn't look professional person who files tax returns promptly. Reason: he wants operational cash at hand to be given by customers! * On the way, you get Kamat Lokaruchi @ bellur cross before going to Shravanabelagola, and then take left turn towards Holenarasipur before reaching the karle, sakleshpur. * the approach road to The karle is narrowm, only one vehicle @ a time, and bit off-roading for about 2 km. * the homestay is pretty big with roughly about 15+acres spread out, and parking of vehicles under open shade trees and can accomadate minibuses as well * The resort helping person came immediately, to take luggage and escorted us to rooms, and very prompt. we were asked to refresh for 15min, and come for lunch @ common cafetaria. Lunch was buffet and around 2pm it normally starts. * the spread of lunch is simple menu, rice, sambhar, rasam, papad, pulav, raitha, one sweet, bajji, two non-veg curries, beetroot and potato curries, curds, pickle - unlimited * the taste is good, and filling. no soda or any heaviness, and it was like village lunch and more or south indian lunch. They gave Idiyappam, but it was not boiled well and it seems they are not having expertise for kerala style food, which they could have avoided * The karle location setting is very natural - flowing river Hemavathi, marsh vast land for very good birds photography, plenty of water flowing and you can easily spot many birds such as red whiskered bulbul, long tailed drongo, bee eater, kingfisher, spotted dove, peacock, egrets, crane, cormorant, koyal, etc etc., take a very good Olympus Binocolur or equivalent - to enjoy the beautiful colors of birds. There is one local person from Karle who took us for bird watching - takes about 30 minutes * the coffee/tea is served at 6.30am onwards and kept @ Cafetaria - and available unlimited quantity. Great to see homestay's approach on letting these things not be counted - unlike many other homestay. They use sometimes papercups, which can be avoided, and instead environment friendly could use steel cups which any local Indian like to take. * The Karle homestay has various entertainent for age group from small kids to adults, and nicely designed like rope balancing - more than 5 types, badminton, trekking (but not a long one, but sample), zip line (a long rope connected to a metal box which zoom past from certain height below right into hemavathi river flowing, coral ride, banana ride, speed boat which takes you into hemavathi river middle where water flows thru huge stones, and can sit with knee level water enjoying the force of water! this is great experience. the dry rides and water rides are highly energetic rides and those who are looking for busy day can venture into these, apart from mud vollyball where there is pool of mud water and vollyball is played. if you have required people, it will be surely fun. * the good thing about the homestay is the price is all inclusive Rs 2500/day for breakfast, lunch, high tea (coffee/tea/bajji or pakoda), dinner, bonfire, music, few rides and trek/birdwatching. few paid are extra snacks during evening, alchohal which if you inform kitchen in advance by noon, they will procure and serve available brand. excellent service motto! * coming to accommodation - they have tent, cottage, bungalow, dormitory types, and for family - it is better to be in bungalow or cottage. In fact, the category of people who can enjoy this place will be more of youngsters & people who look for adventure and fun in water! Sr citizens may not find this suitable, so better avoid * the rooms accommodation is average - it carries odur which reflects the upkeep is not good, the maintenance is operational, and not clean and neat. They have no time I guess to upkeep and upgrade the rooms and amenities due to many flow of people steadily. The bed is okay, hot water in each rooms with Gas Geyser. however, the directions are not clear. also, the homestay location is also not clearly shared by hotel contacts which they can ensure all guests booked are shared the Google location * the cafeteria can accommodate around 20 people at a time, and with basic furniture. the food is in hot casserole and served hot. the people are helpful in case if any additional things needed like reheating, additional things and quickly help * the maintenance of the place needs to be relooked. the boat ride as example, has hole and water is gushing inside, but they adjusted this with a waste cloth. Ideally from Guest safety point of view, they should not run the boat, but fix the issue with regular maintenance. Safety aspect of rides needs to be upgraded, which I do not see visibly * the rooms have to be dusted and cleaned for spider webs, insectes which I see as an issue. this may run into our luggage which is not good * In the morning breakfast, Idly - I noticed there was spider inside cooked Idly, which I kept aside, and did not inform the staff. I guess, this has to be addressed to overall Cleanliness and Hygine as well as overall Maintenance. It may be accidental, but again, if adaquate steps are taken for cleaning and upkeep, these will not happen. I heard one of the family complaining of vessels not cleaned well, which I could endorse to my silence. * The place is value for money traveller, no frills and just a simple nature's place who wants to get everything for the day along with fun. Don't expect luxury, great customer service, clean and neat etc., It's for budget travellers. * I should say the people who are doing services are great people - great response to any requests and all the boys are from the nearby villages are doing excellent work. * Recommendation to owners: They should practice a) Swatch Bharath Initiative and ensure each traveller expects Hygine and Quality b) Upgrade security of the rides and equipments and do regular maintenance monthly. It is not big thing, but providing comfort to each and every traveller c) Putting up good sign boards in rooms and outside & carrying out regular disinfectant cleaning d) replace plates from plastics to Steel, as plastic looks very low quality and not good for food e) upgrade the cafetaria ambience with flies and mosquito proof. you will get mosquito bites even in morning time. Here is my rating chart: Rating in the scale of 1 is lowest and 5 Highest Place: 5 Food: 3 Rooms: 3 Cleanliness & Safety: 2 Quality of time spent: 4 Services by people: 5 Accessibility: 4 Overall: My Rating is 3. Hope my fellow friends, I add some value to your next trip. Have Fun! Mohan Ranganathan

I went here for camping. One of the best places for Camping, Bonfires, and StarGazing ( Must ). It's a riverside place. Good was amazing. Staff is also helpful. Amazing water sports. For bikers, it's an amazing place for off-roading. There is an off-road trail in the same property, near to which river flows. 2 KMs of off-road but worth. They do have Camps, Dormitories available. Won't mention here much. Go and experience it by yourself . It's worth the visit.
