With such a panoramic private beach to boot for (one of the best in Havelock) where you can spend hours swimming & just gazing at the horizon. Palm fringed beaches with a long coast for a morning run. This resort is completely worthless to stay for, unclean , with bad stench, non-cooperative staff and unfriendly and boorish. Wish the management woke up and did something about. THis would have been a awesome property. But for now AVOID, there are resorts closeby where you can stay and enjoy this same beach.

ok it is not luxurious but non of the hotels we came across on beach number 5 are, but the beach hut (number 7) was sea facing ( 100 yards away from one of the best palm fringed beach on the island). Huts had aircon ; cable TV , hot and cold running water and a fridge , which was a nice surprise. Although clean and tidy, difficult to keep it clean due to sand going every where. You will need to remind reception to clean it everyday and to supply clean towels which are only done on request. Intermittent Wi fi in reception ( max 2 G speed) on certain days , no other net-work apart from BSNL works so be prepared for lack of wi fi and also phone coverage. Airtel /Telenor proved to be better then Vodaphone reception. Bar only open certain days of the month ( all the hotels near by take it turns to open for 3 days per week ) so best to stock up. Beer was 250 rupees per bottle of Kingfisher strong. Only disappointment was breakfast , only one item was available each day , was expecting a mini buffet , with perhaps fruit juice and toast etc, but service was always with a smile , a bit slow some times , which made up for lack of choice at breakfast. Beach is great and is not crowded with people . Perfect place for peaceful, quite , relaxing get away. If you are in to night clubs or beach sports etc then this is not the place for you. Beach did not have any vendors so best to bring your own drinks and snacks. We enjoyed our stay.

I totally agree with Swati (and Gaurav). Encountered exactly the same problems - I could have written that review! I would add: filthy garden with overflowing rubbish bins just in front of the bungalow terrace that were never emptied, same for dirty room service plates and empty beer bottles left scattered around the garden for the entire stay. Shocking. As Swati said the staff attitude is appallingly bad, service is non-existent and the need to ask repeatedly and wait for hours for something as simple as towels or breakfast is unacceptable and a waste of precious holiday time. Very expensive and very disappointing.

I tried to eat and drink at the little restaurant and bar at the front of this resort. In a two week period I managed to get a meal there once and a beer there twice. I discovered I was in a bar served by the laziest guys. (In all of India?) They were not in the least interested in their jobs or their customers. You'll not be able to 'catch their eye'. They will avoid eye contact at all cost. Well, why attend to customers when you can chat with your mates?! (Actually, there is an odd character who goes against what I have just said. He mainly stays behind a sort of serving desk at the back. He looks all the time.....but he will never respond to a pleading, hungry look.) He, like all the other guys, and there seems to be a lot of them, have to be touched or stood in-front of to get any attention. By way of experiment, I sat at one of their tables for 25 minutes. No-one came near to ask what I wanted. They only had three other customers. To be fair that seems to be quite a prevalent attitude on the Andaman Islands. Lots of people come to see a really beautiful spot on the planet whether they get good service or not, it seems. Actually, I did find one place El Dorado, heading in the direction of beach 3, where Raschid is on the ball and he goes out of his way to be helpful. That bar isn't obvious from the road, you have to go onto the premises to see it just on the right. The door is at the back of the building strangely. Oh, and the waitress at Fat Martins is also on the ball. You just need to lift your head and she is right there with you!

Sangri Las is a disaster, I would rather say its not even a hotel. Just providing four walls and one roof to cover yourself is not called as Hotel. Staff is highly impolite and rude, they will give a deaf ear to their customers like anything. For breakfast, one has to wait 35-40 minutes and there is no buffet breakfast available, its just something which theyll cook for all their customers and no matter what youve to eat it. For basic amenities like towel, soap, drinking water one has to request them several times and then also not sure, if one will get. You can find frogs anytime in your bathroom and to get away with it is again a big round of pleas which one need to make at the reception. Intercom is not available, so for every small thing one has to go to reception, no room service available. The most annoying thing is that their restaurant and bar is open to local people, so every evening it will be a filthy place. Even the bartender drinks sitting there at the restaurant along with local crowd and crossing that passage is not at all safe. Not suggested any time, its a big waste of money.
