AUTHENTIC HERITAGE HOTEL/ WONDERFUL STAFF
by STUDYTRAVEL2201 on
I have been staying at Narain Niwas Palace for over fifteen years. I return there twice a year. Every time I arrive I feel as if I am 'at home' in India. It's a truly rare and precious hotel, palatial but with an old-world air, and still owned and managed by the princely family that built it a century ago. They carefully protect the authentic style...while adding to the amenities, the garden, and the restaurants on the property. My recent stay was particularly enjoyable. The longtime manager and his front desk staff are helpful and welcoming. There are no crowds, mostly people who return year after year. The staff order taxis, provide special amenities and are helpful with requests and making a guest feel welcome. The 10-acre garden offers a swimming pool and sunny places for relaxation. In addition, in the garden is the chicest restaurant/bar in the city, Bar Palladio, with trendsetting interior decor and a choice of Italian cuisine. Among other great pleasures of staying here are the peacocks that wander around the grounds, I'll never forget the first time I stayed there...and opened my windows in the morning to see two peacocks perched in a tree just nearby. . UNESCO recently listed Jaipur officially as a world heritage site. Narain Niwas, with its own authentic history and tradition, is a historic treasure. It is my favorite hotel i Jaipur.
Nice stay in a quiet part of Jaipur (apart from the barking dog and noisy peacocks)!

I was concerned having read some of the reviews on Tripadvisor, but having been shown to our first room, I asked if we could be moved to a room with more light and they were very helpful and moved us, to much better room. The breakfast was ok. The gardens and pool area were lovely and very relaxing, with chipmunks and peacocks wandering about.
Lovely experience at an interesting hotel

Stopped here for 2 nights and had a very pleasant time. Very nice room, staff were very helpful and an enjoyable evenings entertainment in the outside restaurant. Its a heritage place so not a modern build but that is definitely part of its charm. We deliberately avoided the high rise new builds, can stay in those anywhere in the world, so weren't disappointed. Numerous peacocks wandering past the room door and joining us of an evening by a peaceful swimming pool area. Indulged in a treatment from the spa which was excellent and very good value.
Clean and comfortable

Clean and comfortable hotel. Room very spacious- nice to have a sofa and chair. Breakfast- good choices with lovely homemade bread. Laundry service excellent- even ironed our socks! Disappointed that had a very large party of 50plus people for a function so made dining difficult and couldn't see dancers. Food at dinner average. However couple of nice restaurants on road up to hotel so easy walk to them. Staff very helpful
First taste of an Indian Heritage hotel

A quiet location in a busy city. The main building has lots of early 20th century memorabilia (though feels more Victorian era). To reach our bedroom we had to climb up a stone staircase to emerge onto a large courtyard with our room (101!) off it. Our room consisted of a small seating area, bedroom and fairly large bathroom. At night we were brought hot water bottles to keep us warm! Be warned - the restaurant at night is outside and fairly chilly (blankets outdoor heaters provided). Very good buffet and music and dance spectacle to watch. Breakfast was adequate. Staff all very courteous.
If you can, get a room that is not too near the open-air restaurant.
