  • Stay Away!

    by Jerome1117 on

This is in conjunction with the reviews I posted for two other Samode properties. Two words: STAY AWAY! These people will not disclose critical information, act deceitfully and refused to refund us even partially. Plus they do not respect peoples handicaps in hazardous situations. I encourage everyone who has had negative experiences in any of the Samode hotels to post about them. No one should be treated the way we were treated! There are so many other properties in Jaipur that are most cost effective and where the staff care about their guests.

  • Beautiful setting but patchy service

    by roxysam on

We stayed here for 3 nights towards the end of our Rajastan trip. The good bits - Beautiful gardens , especially when the fountains were on , lots of quiet places to catch the sun or read a book. So many birds too Such lovely staff in the restaurant - they could not have been more helpful or friendly , a big thank you to them. The food was good too if a bit expensive. We cycled up to the palace for a coffee which was beautiful and the beds by the pool gave some well needed relaxing time away from the city. Not so good bits - the rooms were ok , a little tired but plug in heater worked and lots of hot water. Gate man was quite rude - not helpful when we arrived in directing us where to go. And when we wanted to take the bikes outside the gate , he was adamant we couldnt go. Eventually after a few phone calls he opened the gate but didnt speak to us or when we returned. The reception staff were also not helpful. The money they wanted for the taxis was ridiculous ; they ran to our room when we left ( to get the bags I thought ) but no , they were checking the rooms ( we carried the bags ). Honestly unless we had folded up the bedsheets and stuffed them in our bags I cannot think what anyone could possibly take from the room ; and probably the worst when we went to check out at 5.45 am , we queried the fact that the tax rate had changed since we booked the hotel. Every place we had stayed in so far had offered us the 10% tax back at check out , without us asking When I pointed out that we were entitled to 10% of the room cost back , the guy had to make several phone calls In the end he said he would have to talk to the accounts department later and they would refund onto my card. I asked them to take it off my food and drinks bill but they wouldnt , which means I pay all the exchange costs again of going back onto my Uk card. Realistically its only 40 but it was more the principal. - so we left without leaving the tip we were planning ( and which the restaurant guys really deserved) and a bit grumpy. So a beautiful setting but with some unhelpful staff and expensive food and taxis

  • Enchanting Nature Setting

    by rebeccasE7747HU on

I highly recommend visiting the Samode Bagh if you are visiting Jaipur and want to get out of the bustling city and into nature. The staff was so kind and attentive to all of our needs and requests. I brought a yoga group last October and we stayed at the Bagh for 2 nights. The rooms were beautiful, simple and clean, The food was delicious and the buffet gave plenty of options for people to choose from. The massage at the spa was incredible. I enjoyed this place so much that I am bringing my group back this year.

  • Fabulous hotel

    by Carol T on

We stayed here for 2 nights while on a tour of Rajasthan, and we would like to have stayed longer. The hotel is spacious and the rooms are very attractive, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The room staff were excellent and provided us with an extra heater which was very welcome in January. The dining room is lovely and the food excellent. All the staff were very good, but special mention to Morgan, the dining room manager, who went out of his way to make us feel welcome. He took us on a village walk which was really interesting, but beware the price of bangles in the bangle shop! The hotel was the garden palace of the king, and the huge gardens have been lovingly restored and are simply beautiful with numerous fountains. The second night we went to the sister hotel, the Samode Palace for dinner - what a place! It was the same menu, but well worth a visit, as we were given a guided tour of the KIng's rooms. Sumptuous or what! Our only regret was that we weren't staying longer at Samode Bagh. Have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending this hotel.

  • Beautiful experience!

    by Dhiren1 on

This is a wonderful property.. The water fountains, extensive lawns, the open spaces, the occasional spotting of peacocks in the property and the hospitality.. In all ways, it was wonderful.. They have tried to retain the charm to its olden glory and that is the best part of the experience.. The tents are well furnished and very comfortable. The food is decent as well. My only suggestion would be - make sure you throw at least one major meal into your package because it is relatively quite expensive to pay for the buffet spreads otherwise - if I'm not mistaken, it was in excess of Rs.2500 per person for a regular dinner buffet.. and we ended eating all our meals a-la-carte! The nearby Samode Palace is a wonderful experience as well and worth a visit/meal.

  • Ask for cottages that aren't near the road.

  • For old people get down at Gate 2. Rooms from room no 35-42 are better as they have more relaxing space and open area and greenery etc

  • Wifi will only work on a small concrete area near reception

  • All tents are placed along the boundary of the property overlooking a central open area.
