I reserved this hotel from usa based website. I heard of name lalit being upscale place. When I arrived, sure enough there was classic greeting at door. At checkin, they reviewed my reservation and told me that my room is assigned in lower quality back area of hotel caller Lalit Traveller. That part of hotel wasn't great. Elevator kept acting up. Room was not spot clean. Downstairs in breakfast area, food was cold and service was very slow. We asked for rolling bed and they took exceptionally long amount of time to get there. I would not stay at this hotel again.

It was high season n the four point which we booked as we were told was undergoing renovation and so we were moved to lalit. That was the start of the nightmare. The room was dimly light, toilet had flies buzzing around, the floor and many places were clearly not cleaned. As of us was ill, we left him in the room to rest while we went to show pictures to four point about the rooms offered. Over in four point the staff immediately found rooms for us and told to move back. She told that she would speak to lalit about it. Very bizarre indeed! Then the night duty manager at lalit refused to let us leave claiming that the unkempt rooms were our own doing. The fact that a 5 star establishment can offer such rooms to guests must have clearly slipped his mind. You can clearly see the stain marks in the photos which were there for some time. Finally he agreed to let us leave but told me that no help will be rendered to move our luggage even though one of us was very ill. A most unpleasant experience indeed.

I was under the impression I was booking 2 nights at the Lalit Jaipur, instead I somehow got booked at the Lalit "Traveller". While they're under the same roof, the standards are very different. The Lalit Traveller claims to be a 4.5 star hotel, but charges for everything from soap/shampoo to an iron to standard maid service. My room was nice enough; however, my view was of a concrete wall and the shower was one of the worst I've experienced. That being said, you get to experience a lot of the nicer amenities that you would expect out of a Lalit hotel, including a fantastic breakfast, and beautiful pool and gym. The staff was lovely. The location is conveniently located next to the airport, but very little else. Overall, not the worst experience I've ever had, though not at all what you would expect out of this brand name. They've really cheapened themselves with their "Traveller" off-shoot.

This is about the Lalit Traveller, which is a separate wing in the Lalit Jaipur. I have not stayed in the main Lalit, which may be better, but considering the housekeeping staff and management is probably the same, I wonder. The room was reasonably sized, but with a very damp feel to the bed linens. Even the surface of the desk was sort of sticky. There is a kitchen sink also on one side opposite the bathroom with kitchen cabinets. Not sure of the point of this. There is no microwave provided in the room so what does one do with a kitchenette anyway? The window is pointless, if you move the chick/curtain you will get a nice view of a solid blank wall about 2 feet away. AC didn't seem to work very well, whatever temperature I set, room was still far too cold. I stayed in this hotel a couple of times. First time when I entered the room the lights were not working even after inserting the card and I had go back to reception to get someone to fix it, which they did in about 5 minutes. Second stay, I found the room smelling odd, and the bathroom sink not draining properly. Called the plumber who found the sink drain clogged with about 15-20 beedi stubs. I guess some hotel staff had been using this room as their personal smoking lounge. Generally it felt that more focus on cleanliness is required in the room. The bathroom was very oddly lit. Overhead lamp above the sink casts such shadows that shaving becomes an adventure sport. The showerhead was fixed firmly in place, and so high that the average Indian probably wouldn't be able to reach it anyway. It worked either at weak or super-duper pressure wash speeds - okay, that's a bit of an exageration, but you get the picture. TV was an old model which had several Airtel digital TV channels, but no way to control the set top box. Quality of signal was pretty poor too. Others reviewers have already written about the silly charges for everything from Iron box to Change of Linen. "Change of Linen" - seriously? The food was overall quite good. Room service was a bit expensive (this is a "Traveller" after all) but tasty and in good quantity. The breakfast was also pretty good with a decent amount of variety. The entrance lobby is quite impressive, and Check-in and Check-out was handled quite efficiently. However the rooms somehow did not meet the expectation created from the first-impression on arrival.
