You will never regret coming to stay with Mr Badal and his family in their nice modest home in Khuri. Mr Badal was so nice, helpful and genuine and made me feel like a guest in this home. This family cooks very delicious and generous meals. Mr Badal organised me a camel safari which was great fun and very reasonably priced. I wish I had time to stay longer.

A stay at Badal house allows visitors to get the most authentic Jaisalmer desert experience. We stayed for 2 days and absolutely loved our time there. To get to Khuri you have to either hire a car (~1500 rupees) or take the local bus from Jaisalmer (~40 rupees). We took the local bus and it was an experience, to say the least. The 3:30 bus was cancelled so we waited for the 5:00 bus. It left 30 minutes late, was jammed with passengers both inside and on the roof, stopped to pick up even more passengers along the way, and arrived in Khuri 90 minutes later than scheduled. Badal met us at the bus and we walked the short distance to his home. The host family are just fantastic on all fronts. We were provided with a sizeable room with an attached toilet. Badal got us an extra bed to allow all 4 of our family to sleep comfortably. As a note, its rustic accommodation. The home is safe and secure but has minimal creature comforts. The beds are wood frames with thin mats on them, the home has electricity and water. Please dont go in expecting wifi, hot showers or televisions. We were provided with a full 3 meals every day. The food was wonderful. Everything is home made, lovingly prepared and delicious. The yogurt curry was a stand out favourite of mine. Badal is a great host and will do everything in his power to ensure you have a great stay. He suggested we sleep in the rooftop for our second night. One of the kids wanted to and the other didnt, so the family split up for the 2nd night. My kids especially loved playing with the familys baby goat and calf. They are friendly little animals and took well to the kids constant attention. This was a distinct highlight of our time in the Jaisalmer area. I would suggest a stay here to everyone.

We first heard about Badals House through Lonely Planet, having originally planned to organise a camel safari from Jaisalmer, after reading reviews we decided to make the trip out to Badals House and we were so glad we did!! If you are looking for a genuine, authentic experience of staying in a rural village and venturing into the desert on camels to sleep under the stars this is the place to come! Badal was welcoming, his homecooked food was delicious and he shared lots of interesting information and stories about India and his life. He organised a one night camel safari for us the next day which was a lovely peaceful experience and again simple fresh food was cooked and in the evening we sat next to the campfire under the stars- it was magical! One thing to note this is definitely a no frills experience, its basic, simple, clean facilities no WiFi etc but we felt this made the experience even better!

Badal Singhs house is just the ideal place to experience Rajasthans village life amidst the desert area ! Highlights of our stay include his familys hospitality, quiet surroundings, nice and simple food, clean rooms and bathrooms as well easy access to sand dunes and camel rides. Please do not use any travel sites for this booking. Call Badal Singhji directly( +91 81073 39097 ) and book by transferring a small amount onto his account as an advance.

We called Badal-ji a few days before we arrived and received clear instructions to reach the cute little town of Khuri from Jaisalmer. Once there at around 3pm, we completely submitted ourselves to the able hands of Badal Singh-ji and his team... A sunset safari, followed by the most incredible night under the stars, freshly cooked dinner and then breakfast - everything was PERFECT!! Has to go down as one of the best experiences in my LIFE!
