What's Good: Very peaceful location.... Slightly away from the city... Very neat and clean. Also food at the roof top restraint with view of the fort is the best part of all....

Desert Moon is a Haveli-style but modernly built guesthouse/hotel. It's on the outskirts of Jaisalmer, but an easy walk or a cheap tuk-tuk to get to the markets and fort, and right next to an incredible sunset viewing spot with well-maintained ancient Jain and Moghal burial structures . It is owned, and was designed by a kiwi lady and her Indian husband. It is beautiful in appearance, and comfortable. The air-con works, and the shower is spacious and clean. I did have to ask for the hot water to be turned on, but they did so quickly. Simple breakfasts (including omelettes) were included in our room price, as was pick-up from the sleeper bus at something like 7 am. We asked if we could drop our bags and return at 11 am check in, -but they let us directly into our rooms 4 hours early at no extra charge. When we left, we also had 4 hours to kill, and our room was already allocated to incoming guests, but they allowed us to hang around on the beautiful verandah (and even offered us a single room as I was a bit unwell) for no extra charge. Some people would prefer to be more central, but it is a peaceful area, and does also have the proximity to the sunset point. I would stay again!

Our train was hideously late arriving in Jaisalmer. The guy was waiting for us with a sign which was very much appreciated! The room was fine and comfortable. Also there was no noise in the mornings so we could sleep in late! The camel safari was ok, the camels were healthy and one patch at the end of the trek looked like an idyllic desert. I imagine if you insisted on being taken further out it would be beautiful everywhere.

I enjoyed this hotel more than any other in India so far. The rooms are well appointed, theres hot water and the air conditioning works. A very nice couple runs the establishment and I enjoyed conversing with them. Karim was very nice, and he assisted me with ordering breakfast and tours. Great location, you can easily walk to most of Jaisalmer from the hotel. A great place, would definitely stay again.

As always thanks to Lois, Chanasar and Karim we had a wonderful retreat in the desert for 10 days. The desert staff was very caring and attentive to our needs. The only downside was the noise from the distant windmills on windy days and the rental of adjacent land to otter noisy tourists and business people which felt intrusive to our need for silence and solitude

Seemingly family owned and run, Desert Moon is a stellar place to stay in Jaislamer. Walking distance from the centres of excitement, but far enough away to avoid the horns (of bovine and bikes! hehe). Service: The staff here are super friendly! The owners are lovely (Lois is a former kiwi and a really genuine and helpful host). Desk staff are always enthusiastic and willing to lend a hand to any inquiry or request. Specifics: The rooms are spacious, well adorned, and very clean. The wifi was VERY fast, and the bathrooms didn't flood every time you used the shower (an exception to the rule for us thus far). We didn't eat here often, and so cannot comment on that side of things. Overall: Highly recommended - absolutely wonderful stay.
