Really enjoyed our 4 nights staying here. Reminded me of Jaisalmer some 30 years ago. Absolutely no hassle. As others have commented the owner and his wife have been an absolute delight, being helpful and making us feel welcome without any hidden agendas. Its a place where you want to stay longer. Great location, very quiet, nice basic breakfast. Wifi wasn't great but other than that excellent value.
Best Service in All India

We stayed for two nights (separated by one in the desert) and were lured back for the second night by Arun and his wifes incredible hospitality. The rooms are good and well priced, the hot water works with a bit of a fiddle, and the laundry service is very reasonable. Unlike the owner/operators of most hotels in Jaisalmer, Arun is friendly, down to earth, and doesnt try to get you on a commissioned camel safari. He also did me a great service (once returned home on the other side of the world) by finding a local pet dog who had scratched a colleague of mine to check that it was healthy 10 days later! He literally had to find it in a house off Gandhi Chowk and he even sent me photos and wished me a happy new year. 12/10 service will he staying here again even when no longer on a student budget.
Basic but entertaining

My girlfriend (now my wife) and I visited here almost ten years ago in July 2008. When we turned up the owner was happy for us to look around the place, check out the room, etc. We did and left to look at another hotel but returned a few minutes later and stayed for about three or four days. The room itself was fairly basic, as are most in India if travelling on a budget. It was a fan not A.C.. Basics aside, I think what really appealed about the place and won us over was the owner - whose name I cannot recall or am not sure if I ever knew. He was in his fifties at the time, but highly entertaining. Every morning we would join in for breakfast; simple stuff: tea, coffee, toast, jam, butter -"whatever you like" was his saying. His manner could be deemed as strict, but that was just his way; he a great sense of humour and was very welcoming and gracious. One night the power went down so the fan in the bedroom stopped working. Everyone staying at the hotel went up onto the terraced roof to sleep, because it was too hot in the rooms. I remember looking up at the sky and seeing hundreds of bats flying overhead; they looked white against the desert sky. the power soon returned and we went back to the room. Overall I would say that it is a basic hotel, clean and tidy and it really feels as if you are in India. For the price it's ok. But as I said, it was the owner who should it for us; charming and something different. Go stay at Hotel Swastika.
Great value, nice couple

We stayed here for a few days whilst visiting Jaisalmer; owner seemed a bit standoffish but when you get speaking you realize he's a really nice guy. the prices are really good the rooms clean, the aircon worked and lavatory/shower were actually clean (unlike many other places and we could get hot water). We had some laundry done that was also great value. I would certainly stay here again. Best value place we stayed in India.

It was an ok experience but not great. We were actually surprised it is recommended by lonely planet. It was completely empty when we arrived and it seemed to have been like that for a few days. The rooms were ok, but not great. The electricity was continuously on and off which was horrible for the AC -we understand it was probably out of their control. Also, the AC was facing our heads while sleeping which made it a sleepless night. The service was not great but not bad either.
make sure you articulate that you want aircon.

Don't take the first price when it comes to safaris. Bargain hard.

First floor rooms are very noisy.

All of the rooms are quiet as generally the only sound at night is when the local dogs wake each other up!
