Stayed 5 nights. The room was clean and a good price. The staff were super friendly, always keen for a chat and genuinely cared about the guests. Comfortable rooftop restaurant with decent food and wifi. Occasional hot water.

Hotel is quite clean and Ok. our "non touristic" safari for which we paid 1000Rs per person was Ok, but the seats on camels ware so inconvenient that we had to leave next morning with bloody marks on our backs. By the way, we paid for 2 nights and nobody returned us money back, even didn't proposed a room for free for that night. Apart of this, the route of safari was around a village and near the road where we seen lot of jeeps. The boys was cooking and singing well but the whole story - it is not a "non touristic route" and it is not a pleasant time to spent in desert(((

I was welcomed in a very kind way with free Chai on the cosy hotel terrace. When I told armin, the hotel owner that i just wanted to spend one night in the desert because I was mainly interested in learning the kalbalia (cobra gypsies) dance and music, he told me that it was possible to get a safari to the gypsies and get dance lessons right where they live, plus music evenings. He told me that this and getting really deep into the desert would only be possible by a 4 day safari. I was not so keen about sitting on a camel for 4 days, but the outlook to meet the kalbalia in the desert and the fact that it was supposed to be a "safari by jeep and camel" convinced me. He assured me also that we would be a group because I said I wouldn't want to go alone into the desert with a male guide. I found myself alone with the guide on the 2nd day, since the only other girl had only booked one night. The camelguide didn't know anything about my agreement with armin concerning the kalbalia, there hadn't been any communication at all. He said there are no kalbalia where we are going and getting lessons is impossible. The "jeep" part of the whole safari was limited to the 1 hour arrival, I wasn't even picked up by jeep in the end but by motorbike. Even though my camelguide assured me that where we are going, no jeep can enter, I saw jeep trails and from time to time even a vehicle on the way. When I came back to the hotel and confronted armin with my experience, he got angry and denied that he had ever promised me kalbalia dance lessons - despite the fact that it was even written in my bill. Similarly he dissmissed all other complaints. In a nutshell: Peacock is a wonderful place to hang out, usually there are only people going to or coming from a safari, free Chai is always offered, the staff very friendly (armin a bit too curious/attentive) hot water and WiFi most of the time available and I guess it's a good starting point if u are looking for a standard camel safari. But if you are looking for something special and don't wanna be ripped off, this is not the place to go.

The room I had was good and the wifi worked most of the time. Tea was plentiful. The restaurant was usually empty of other travelers most the times I was there. Once there was a big family group of Indians having breakfast before their camel safari. Peaceful, but isolated. If you're looking to meet other people, head into the Fort. The location is in a neighborhood a 10 min walk to the Fort. I was given an *excessive* and unwanted amount of attention by the man running the hotel. As a solo female traveler, though I had planned to stay for 5 days, I felt so uncomfortable I changed after just 2 nights.

Peacock Hotel is a clean and nice budget hotel not far from the Jaisalmer fort. The interior of the hotel is very authentic, one can experience the spirit of the eastern life staying there. Friendly hosts bring you free greeting tea after check in and do everything for you comfort. Safari was great, even our caprices were finally satisfied. Many thanks to Amin!)
