As we checked in for our two-night stay at Mandir Palace, we were greeted by Mr. Bhojraj Singh, who welcomed us with his ever so reassuring smile. From there on, we knew we were in safe hands. Mr. Bhojraj Singh gave us a brief tour of the palace while escorting us to our spacious and tidy rooms. Later that night, we dined at the hotel's rooftop restaurant which had a magnificent view of the fort. The food itself was decent, but the view and ambiance made up for it and overall, it was a satisfying dining experience. Over the course of our two-night stay, we learned that the staff's service reflected an understanding of the same principles of hospitality that Mr. Bhojraj Singh epitomizes. At Mandir Palace, the overall experience exceeded our expectations.

Careful about your purse, they are behind it. We landed there on the 24th December, having paid a huge amount per night (think 10k+) we were forced to take a "mandatory gala dinner" on that evening which was priced at an exhorbitant amount of 1900 per head!! Well, we ended up paying for 4 members that evening, but still was hoping to enjoy the "gala" dinner - alas! The dinner was far from being gala. They had one veg and one non-veg starter, that too we had to remind them to bring the starter - or else they would give a bit and disappear - horrible! The buffet spread was also pitiful. Literally one veg soup, one chicken, one biriyani etc. The rooms was okay - half the things are not like a professional hotel. The sockets are broken, oddly placed, bed mattress not good enough, the list of complaints can be large for the price we paid there. The only saving grace is that this was a palace where the raja lived at some point of time - hey and now we are paying for "experiencing" that? I would highly recommend not to stay at this place - stay somewhere else and you can anyway visit the Mandir Palace since it is open to public viewing anyway.

Mandir Palace's beauty is overshadowed by the extremely poor service. We stayed two nights and cannot recommend the hotel or the restaurant. Our experience at the rooftop restaurant was a nightmare. The food was expensive and average, but the bigger issue was the service. We were the first guests for dinner and were told that the only option was to eat from the small (but very expensive) buffet -- so we agreed, because we thought it was the only option. Things soon went downhill as other guests came and started eating a la carte. After questioning the situation multiple times, the waiter presented us with a series of FIVE different excuses. (1) a la carte not possible. (2) a la carte only for tandoor. (3) a la carte available only for lunch. (4) they wanted to AVOID that guests eat a la carte. At this point we asked for the manager who apologized and gave us a small discount on the buffet and a complimentary drink -- which was a small consolation. But the next morning over breakfast, the waiter said (5) he wasn't lying, they started with buffet but had to change when people asked for other options. The room itself was very clean and comfortable -- but once again the service was disappointing. We had specifically requested a quiet room and were assured by one of the senior staff at check in that ours would be quiet. Instead it was next to the stairs that went up to the rooftop and had loud groups passing by late into the night. After our experience with the restaurant service over dinner and breakfast, we did not bother to complain. At this price point, this hotel should not be taking its guests for fools. A little bit of honesty and transparency would have been enough to make our stay better.

Little did we know that we are checking in to the palace of Royals, just like most of others we reviewed things online and booked this hotel. As soon as we arrived we understood we were in a very special place. The entrance itself is grand and you are welcomed by a courteous manager at reception. The manager ensures he gives you little history of the place and personally escorts you to the room. Those 5 mins from reception to hotel room itself will give you the royal feeling. Apparently the Royal palace is divided into 2 parts, 1 where the Royals themselves stay and other being converted to Hotel. The wow factors are the rooms, which remain unaltered from those olden days and only addition is Fans, Lights and TV. The whole feeling of staying in a Palace like the kings and Queens is mesmerizing. There is a museum within the palace which is free to in house guests, they have a restaurant at roof top and having dinner watching the Golden fort light up is absolutely magical. A Noticeable Feature Of Mandir Palace Is Its Tower Called Badal Vilas, Which Stands Out As The Tallest Structure Below The Hill-Top City Fort. Lastly we were fortunate enough to have a small chat with the member of Royal family. If Jaisalmer is in your itinerary, you should 100% stay at Mandir Palace. While booking ask for rooms which are non-alternated for that royal experience.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Beautiful building. Its a real palace, part of which is converted to hotel. Staff was friendly, helpful and always had smiling faces. When checked in they gave full tour of hotel which was interesting. Breakfast and dinner was delicious. All three nights we were served different food. Rooms were nice. Only thing that we didnt like was shower. Water flow was extremely soft, as good as not had a shower. A person who has problems in climbing steps should not book here.
