  • Proximity to the excavations

    by Tripman238 on

The hotels prime attraction is its close proximity to the Museum and the Buddhist Excavation sites in Ratnagiri Jajpur area. This place is a decent abode with no pretensions of super luxury but comfortable for a nights stay. The rooms are clean, toilet is odorless, with just a cake of soap provided. The restaurant has a limited menu but the food is prepared like home cooked food. The complimentary breakfast is a simple affair.

  • Decent restaurant

    by SrikanthSivaraj on

After hours of travel, it was a relief to find a decent restaurant. The staff was helpful and served us piping hot food prepared fresh. The place is clean and spacious. Only Indian toilet, and could be better maintained. The staff was courteous.

  • See it to believe it.

Visited this place in August, the place was quite lonely and peaceful but its quite crowded in picnic time. It always feels better to see historic structures. Visit it to believe it. Just pack your bags and experience yourself.

  • Very disappointing

On our way from Bhitarkanika to Puri, my husband and I stayed one night at Toshali Ratnagiri Resort. The hotel is situated just opposite the ancient Buddhist monastery complex of Ratnagiri, so that we could spend some extra time there which was wonderful. The experience in Toshali Ratnagiri Resort, however, was anything but wonderful, it was really awful and we would recommend to anybody not to stay there, but to visit the Ratnagiri ruins as a daytrip from Bhubaneswar or Puri. With the exception of the room itself which was clean and well equipped, the hotel itself (from the outside and in the public areas) looks extremely run down (mouldy, missing paint, broken tiles, just to name a few). We also saw huge cockroages and a variety of other insects in the hallway. The promised swimming pool has no water and looks very rotten. The dining hall is also not in a good state; it looks very desolate, depressing and dirty. No wifi in the hotel. The positive surprises were the service provided by the very friendly and helpful staff as well as the food which was excellent. As we frequently travel to India, we are well acquainted with the hotel standards and rates, but this experience was the worst ever, especially taking into account the high room rate. We tried to contact the hotel management, but nobody seemed to be interested in our problems.
