Jalandhar, counted among the oldest cities of Punjab, is located around 144 km to the northwest of the state capital Chandigarh. Over the years, the city has been developed and modernised but there are many tourist places in Jalandhar that still depict the ancient culture and tradition of the place.
Devi Talab Mandir, situated in the heart of the city, is one of the most popular temples in the area. Adjacent to this shrine, an old temple of Hindu Goddess Kali is also situated. Another popular temple of the region is the one devoted to Vrinda, who was the wife of Jalandhara (a demon). The temple is known by the name Tulsi Mandir and a large number of tourists come here to offer their prayers. On one side of the temple, there is a tank, which according to a belief, was the bathing place of Jalandhara. Among other places of worship, there is a temple in Gur Mandi that is dedicated to Hindu Lord Shiva. Gurudwara Chhevin Padshahi and Kartarpur Gurudwara are the other two shrines that comprise Jalandhar attractions.
Jalandhar also houses Shaheed-E-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh Museum in the village of the renowned freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. Further, the city has the Pushpa Gujral Science City, which spreads across an area of 72 acres. Here, tourists can watch different types of shows including digital planetarium show, virtual 3D show and laser show. Some other Jalandhar places to visit are Wonderland Theme Park, Moorish Mosque, Rangla Punjab Haveli and Sodal Mandir.
