Jalgaon is a city in Maharashtra on the northern Deccan Plateau. The city is a significant producer of bananas and so it is also known as the 'Banana City'. During a Jalgaon tour, tourists can visit the world famous Ajanta Caves situated close to the city. The Ajanta Caves have been declared as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. There are 30 rock cut caves in Ajanta, which have unique and exquisite paintings and sculptures that display the extraordinary beauty of Buddhist religious art.
An interesting place to visit in Jalgaon is the Parola Fort which was apparently the home of Rani Laxmibai's father. In addition to the fort, there are many famous temples in and around Jalgaon. The Omkareshwar Mandir, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is one of the important places of worship in the city. Festivals like Shivratri, Ramnavmi, Shravni Somvar and Gokulashtami are celebrated in this temple with high levels of pomp and gaiety.
Changdeo Temple is one among other renowned tourist places in Jalgaon and it has been declared as a 'Protected Monument' by the Archaeological Survey of India. The rivers Tapi and Purna confluence at this location. Other famous temples include Sant Muktabai Temple, Sri Padmalaya and Manudevi Temple. There is an enchanting waterfall near the Manudevi Temple which is worth a visit. There's a small river in this location and winding roads parallel to the river serve as great trekking routes.
Furthermore, tourists can pay a visit to the Unapdev, Sunapdev and Nijhardev during their trip to Jalgaon. These places have hot water springs which are believed to be auspicious with the touch of Lord Rama. Tourists can also travel to the small village of Pal which boasts of alluring landscapes.
