Jodhpur, the historic city in Rajasthan state of India, was established in 1459 AD. Since it is located on the outline of Thar desert, it is often called as the 'Gateway to Thar'. The city is also addressed as the 'Blue City' as most of the houses in the older part of the city are painted with different shades of blue colour. Every year, thousands of tourists plan a Jodhpur tour to acquaint themselves with the traditions and culture of this vibrant city, and to experience the lifestyle of natives. They also explore ancient forts and monuments during their trip to have a glimpse of the history of the place.

The Mehrangarh Fort, stretching over an area of 5 km, is one of the famous Jodhpur attractions. This fort stands on a steep hill, providing panoramic views of surroundings. The palaces built inside it are the true reflection of the expertise of architects of yore. Besides marvelling at the intricacy of these palaces, visitors can explore the Jaswant Thada that was built in the honour of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II. Umaid Bhawan Palace is another architectural wonder of Jodhpur that was built with a noble intention of providing employment to famine struck people of the city. The palace houses a museum that showcases unique clocks, crockery, antiques as well as the weapons used by Maharajas.

The Government Museum, Rai-ka-Bag Palace and Umed Garden are some of the other attractions that visitors can explore. Besides enjoying Jodhpur tourist places, they can also plan excursions to nearby areas like Kaylana Lake, Mandore, Nakoda Ji, Khichan and Masuria Hill.

Merely 4 km from Jodhpur Cantt Railway Station, The Ummed is apt for fitness-conscious guests as it has a pool, gym, cricket field, tennis and volleyball courts, croquet facilities and jogging tracks. It has a spa, and offers village and desert safaris, and rides in its numerous vintage cars. Overlooking Bal Samand Lake, WelcomHeritage Bal Samand Lake Palace has a fitness centre and swimming pool for leisure travellers. Apart from these, it also offers conference and banqueting facilities, and arranges for cycling, horse riding, bird watching and village safaris. Mihir Garh is located in the middle of the Thar Desert, around 70 km from Jodhpur Airport. Each of its suites comes with either a private plunge pool or Jacuzzi, offering guests an exclusive experience.

The Fern Residency, featuring a nightclub for the enjoyment of guests, is just 2 km from Jodhpur Junction railway station. Additionally, it also comes with two restaurants, gymnasium and business centre. Just 3 km from the grand Mehrangarh Fort, Mapple Abhay has a swimming pool, shopping arcade, banquet hall and four conference halls.
