The trek up to Hill View with my luggage in tow was certainly something - but it was all worth it to have the sisters who run it greet me at the top with warmth and humour. They treat you like family during your stay and in the end, the climb meant being just around the corner from the fort. The room was clean and cosy and charming, with little nooks and decorations and a fan that didn't clank all night (very welcome after the place I stayed previously!). There are views of the city on every floor (from the stairwell windows) and the restaurant has views over the city. The sisters also organised my bus to Jaisalmer for only a small service fee (like 70 cents or something, well worth me not running around at the station). Hill View was both one of my favourite stays and one of the cheapest, such great value for money and I absolutely would come and stay here again.

Still look back at the night we spent at Hilo View and remember the lovely panorama both at sunrise and sunset, breakfast and dinner on the roof top. All with the Fort right at my back: so impressive and magic. You could also listen to the muezzin calls coming with echo from all Jodhpur. Nice and clean rooms also in the building in front of the main one. Perfect position though your tuktuk may leave you at the bottom of the hill, a 100metres close by.

The only nice thing about this place was the view from the top which was amazing! Other than that it was dirty and the rooms were not clean and the kitchen and dining room were very dirty therefore we avoided eating there. Now we know why it was so cheap!!

The Hill View Guest House I would have to say might have the best view of the city and situated right at the foot of the fort. The food was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Plus the goats were gorgeous.

Indians please don't stay here. The owner being an Indian, seems to hate Indian travelers a lot. She doesn't know a thing about how hotel booking works online. She says Indians do book the rooms and never appear on the date of stay. I understand these things happen in every tourist places in India that doesn't mean she can butcher words for my fellow Indians. She was behaving cheap with us the day we stayed there. We had booked the room well in advance, so we were charged 300 bucks. While doing the check out procedure on asking how much the bill was, she asked for 400 bucks claiming she has to pay for the company. I refused to pay her 100 bucks more and paid only 300. On asking bill receipt, her reaction was pathetic. She was like, "bade badon ko hum receipt nahi detein" which translates to - We don't give receipts to big parties who stay there which she was referring to foreigners. While she was talking to us, she mentioned she wants to block bookings for Indian people and only has to accept foreigners' bookings. The rooms were so small and the bathrooms were so dirty. I literally had a bad experience staying at this hotel. Overall, the owner is money minded and doesn't care about your patriotic feelings.
