I had stayed at RTDCs Ghoomar Hotel, Jodhpur in 2015 for one night 3 January 2015. I am quite late with this review mainly due to the fact that I have become active in TripAdvisor very recently. But I feel that my review will help fellow travelers. I am one of those travelers who try to patronize government properties due to two reasons prime location of these properties and to promote these govt. institutions. This proved catastrophic at RTDCs Ghoomar Hotel which is one of the worst properties that I have been. It is a huge property but very dirty, mismanaged and also not located at such prime location. The ground floor is actually a cemetery of broken furniture and many rooms are engaged for this purpose only. The tuk-tuk guy took Rs. 60 to leave us at the hotel from Jodhpur station. The reception guy was very busy and with disinterest went through my travel voucher and his system to confirm my booking. I gave him my ID but he said what is the urgency Sir?, we will take it later. Two turbaned porters transferred us to our rooms on second floor through a dirty stair as the lift was not working for ages. The room was huge double bed room, and resembled the hotel rooms of 80s. The TV was cathode one and electric fittings were crumbling. Since I hadnt opted for a non-AC room as there was no need in winters. The room had a monstrous cooler in the backside but I am not sure how efficient it would be in summers. Bathroom was huge but again very basic, archaic and filthy. Just want to tell you no-body cared to ask for our IDs again. It was almost noon and we were hungry. A tour of the restaurant on the ground floor confirmed that this is Pukka Sarkari place breakfast time is over and lunch time will start after 1 or 2 hours. In between you cant get anything. And there are no nearby eating joints or outlets around this property. We hired an auto for city tour. When he dropped us at hotel in the evening there was big argument with the driver as he mentioned entirely different charge at the start than what he was demanding. Since the argument started at the porch of the hotel I complained to the reception guy. Instead of supporting the hotel guest this person started asking me why i didnt fixed the price at the start. I asked him what should be the fair price as the driver was demanding an exorbitant price. But the reception guy didnt care for his hotel guest who later has to pay huge extra charge in front of him. Remember this auto guy was stationed at the hotel complex only. What careless and demeaning attitude the staff has towards their guests? In the evening we went again went to the restaurant for dinner. They told us it will be a buffet dinner only as they dont adopt the la-carte system. So they prepare whatever they like and we have to take it even after paying for our Buffet dinners. Pathetic? In the morning, one or two staffers started ringing hand held bells all over the hotel allies. I thought some Santa Claus is roaming the hotel. Later it became clear that it was call for the complimentary breakfast. It could be scene from some concentration camp film but not of a hotel ritual. We just could not understand whether to laugh or cry. Dont know is this ritual still followed? My sincere request to Govt. of Rajasthan is to transfer this prime property to some caring private entity which can really take care of the guests. Or this property will just be patronized by Sarkaari babus (who never pay for their tour expenses) and die a natural death. Best to avoid this and stay at some amazing and very competitively priced properties at much better locations. I will never return to this filth again.

Jodhpur, to us appeared to be a busy city. Hotel Ghoomar here felt to be a real crown. In fine its pretty attractive. We were given the room at the 2nd floor. This is the only RTDC hotel, we stayed, has a little cute lift. Even being by the busy road, the hotel maintained its cleanliness properly. Room was big, Washroom was large and good. Service of the staff members is appreciable. Right from the balcony, we watched the train passing by while some peacocks and peahens were found busy loitering by the restaurant. There is food shop (Veg only) inside the premises of the hotel. The food they supply with reasonable rate is really tasty. But the complementary breakfast this hotel provides is poor, very poor. PURI (half burnt) and SABJI along with Tea/Coffee did not help us to start a new day with good feelings. Barring that poor breakfast everything here is good. The Clock Tower market is within the walking distance from this hotel and the Mehrangarh Fort is also very far from this hotel..

We wanted to get away from the chilli weather of Delhi so planned the winter holidays to a place where we can get a lot of sun.... So we picked up jodhpur jaislmer and bikaner as our circuit to cover in 6 days. Hotel ghoomar is located on a prime spot in Jodhpur. Food is average here so is hotel. Only good thing about it is it's close proximity to market and other monuments. Over all a good experience of Jodhpur.

It's not possible to give zero otherwise that would have been my choice. The problem is that inspite of such reviews the hotel mgmt does not do anything - this is because they dont read these things. I wonder if they read anything at all! I stayed in the most expensive room and see the pictures on how dilapidated a hotel can be. The room was full of dust, it was smelly and the blankets are dirty. The bathrooms are dirty as well. The dinning area is very dirty...the table cloth and chairs covers are black with dirt...once upon a time they were white. My balcony was without railing...RTDC's own fire escape jugaad! I wish the general manager of Ghoomar is shown the exit door soon.

Did a mistake of booking at RTDC Ghoomar. Thought all RTDC properties would be good.Horribly maintained rooms (plaster pealing ,water leakage in washrooms ),poor service (staff has a 'no' as a standard answer to any request) and restaurant infested with flies. The manager does not take any interest, unlike my experience at RTDC properties at Jaiselmer and Sam Dunes
