My Father and I stayed at the Blue House for 3 nights. We were drawn to the friendly family-feel the hotel offers. However we had a number of issues during our stay. Our first problem was that the air conditioner in our room was not working. Despite informing the staff of this issue early in the morning, we were not moved to another room for a number of hours. The experiences we had with the restaurant were terrible. At breakfast, my Father ordered one meal and was brought two. We were not too bothered by this, however at dinner that night our food did not come out for 60 minutes, despite us being the only people there. When it did come, the waiter had completely forgotten my meal and the sides we had ordered. I had to wait for a total of 1hr 40mins for my meal. I also later found out the waiter was complaining saying that I had not ordered a meal at all. His poor attitude further frustrated me. As I am very experienced in the field of hospitality, I suggest that the waiters of this restaurant should all be able to understand and speak basic English; and advise they at least write down the orders instead of attempting to memorise. The food is also very overpriced, I strongly suggest eating at one of the local street restaurants instead. The Blue House has a lot of potential as a guest house. A few members of the family who run it were friendly and eager to assist. The views of the Mehrangarh Fort are stunning, and the rooms are clean and aesthetic. If customer service was improved I would rate it higher than average, however I will not be returning anytime soon.

Pros: . Owner and family are very welcoming . Close to the Fort - possibly the only worthwhile attraction in Jodhpur . Very clean . Provided extra blankets, towels, etc without any hesitation . Good cup of tea Cons: . Decor/vibe is not authentic: Not so ancient - blue, it is just painted recently to reflect olden days lure . Unclean narrow streets which costs a lot extra to park car many miles away and get to in a tuk-tuk/auto . Food prepared in-house is extremely expensive compared to the scrumptous street food available minutes away . The locality of Old Jodhpur town is not so blue these days either, mostly painted in other shades. Also, the streets are really dirty to walk through, and tuk-tuks/autos very expensive for the tourists

Manish, Manita and their parents, family and staff looked after me as if I WAS family!! They organized tours and transport when I needed it, and gave me ideas for what to explore. The guesthouse is a marvel! Rooms and staircases and balconies go everywhere. I've never seen a place like it. Close to everything, a great stay

This is a very old and beautiful hotel on many floors, with 2 rooftop areas and another mid story eating area. The food we had was freshly cooked and as a result did not arrive in 2 minutes but the Indian food is superb. Naans, potatoes and curries are lovely, banana pancake for breakfast gorgeous. Our room (1) was large and authentic with old stone shelves yet a lovely modern bathroom and plenty hot water for two. If I have any feedback it is for the reception area to be aware of the room (1) directly above the grid and noise from reception and kitchen late in the evening and early morning does travel directly upstairs and can be a bit disturbing but we were fine with it. There is a real family atmosphere here and we felt cared for, welcomed and accepted here. Mr Jain and his family welcomed us. The street is narrow and a car or tuk tuk cannot teach the hotel but the streets around it are amazing to explore with the clock tower, market and my favourite place stepwell are all close by. I loved this place and for the price it is excellent value!

I could stay only for the time of a mango lassi but I guarantee that I am still looking back at it! And at the amazing roof top view as well!! Wish I could have stayed for a night or two! Great position. Tourist friendly.
