We had the opportunity to visit this Grand Palace to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary there. We were there for 3 nights. The sheer size of the majestic Umaid Bhawan is breathtaking when you approach the Palace for the first time. The royal welcome is extraordinary & when you reach under the Central Dome & the Hall blows your mind with the grandeur around you & you feel a royal yourself in the surroundings. We had booked a Palace Room but courtesy Hotel they upgraded us to a Royal Suite overlooking the beautiful gardens & view of Mehrangarh Fort in the far. The suite was amazing , huge in size with well laid out sitting areas & large bathroom. The Heritage Walk around the Palace on Day One was amazing with so much History to know & to see by our self. The trophies well laid out on the walls , the Central Dome & its reflection in the tables laid out in the Centre, the Grand Staircase. The Breakfast at Pillars was very interesting with lot of variety in the food. The evening tea at Risala followed by cultural program in the Central Hall, the Grand Staircase everything is so Royal. The next day we visited Mehrangarh Fort, beautiful visit with RIFF Festival going on there. We bought some Jodhpuri Juttis (Shoes) from there. Next we visited the Old City, bought some traditional Rajasthani Clothes. All our trip around the city was well planned by the Hotel. We had gone to Umaid Bhwan to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. On that day right from Breakfast time we here we had a cake cutting with a Sword, to a Couple Massage (SOMA) at Jiva Spa with a bottle of Champagne, to our Bedroom & Bathroom being decorated with Roses to the traditional Rajasthani Dinner at Risala everything was like a dream sequence. The Palace Museum & Vintage Car display was interesting. We would like to thank the entire Umaid Bhawan Team right from Reservations, to Concierge, to Jiva Spa, the House Keeping Team & the F&B Team to make us feel so Royal & Special. A Big Ticket tick mark in our Bucket List.

During my Rajasthan trip for 10 days; I stayed at Umaid Bhawan with a friend just for a day and it was totally a royal and unforgettable experience there. Before booking I had read it's India's number one hotel at the palace. So I was expecting it to be grand in terms of usual things like location, amenities, room, food etc. However experience at Umaid Bhawan proved to be far more than just the usual. I'm writing below the experience in sequence as it came. I might miss a lots of things, but these were the major ones :) - Royal welcome; with the sound of " ". One can't get such a welcome anywhere else. - We didn't see it coming; we were upgraded to a heritage/historical suite. That was such a nice gesture by their staff. - Despite we arrived an hour earlier than usual check-in time; they made sure we felt great while waiting and helped us with all our curious queries about our stay and everything else. - In my opinion, we didn't stay in a hotel room; but a royal house itself which had 2 balconies (I don't know if balcony is even the right word here). This suite was way more than we expected. Huge lounge plus Bedroom with a huge royal bathroom. - There is a high tea between 4 to 5 pm which is pretty nice at 'Risala'. Fellas...That's just the start of the royal treatment there. - At 5 pm, there was a curated palace tour for all the guests (whoever would like to join) and I totally enjoyed it. A great presentation explaining the history of palace in the 'Princely Chamber' followed by the walking tour at each wing of the palace. Totally loved it. - After the tour, starting at 6 pm there was a Rajasthani cultural program in central dome (which is also just after the main reception). We just sat there on royal chairs/sofas and enjoyed the music and dance performance by folk artists. Guests are served various drinks, sweets and snacks during all this time. Loved the ginger based lemon drink there. :) - We happened to play Billiards with few other guests there. It was totally fun interacting and playing Billiards together. - Attention to details about each small stuff there in the room. One example: When we got out to roam around; one of the staff member was getting the room ready for the evening (Yes that's a thing in Umaid Bhawan I guess). Such as arranging a specific perfume for a good night's sleep; bundling the dangling charging cable with a velcro tie! Providing the Socket Converter in a Royal Blue packaging... wow!! Who does that! Umaid Bhawan does!! - Whenever we walked out of the room in the alley of the palace, each staff member made us feel totally royal. I can't say it in words here. I wish I could remember everybody's name just to thank them here. Kudos! - We went for dinner at 'Pillers' which is at the outside sitting with a view of the central garden there. It's called 'Baradari'. Totally mesmerizing location. We requested for vegetarian food with wine and Jodhpuri Somras. The attendant took great care of us during our dinner and the Rajasthani food was unique and we happened to experience couple of new dishes such as Sangri Saag and Wheat Gatta Sabji. - The night just didn't end at the dinner. We thought of staying at 'Baradari' to take some pics and a little walk in the huge garden :) Picturesque! - In the morning, we went for the breakfast at the Pillars again. There were lots of options and we ended up with Assorted South Indian and Jodhpuri breakfast along with usual dry breakfast. That's great. What made it greater was the live classical Indian music performance while all the guests were having breakfast. Awesome :) - Later we visited the museum and vintage car gallery. These places are open for general public also. However it was really nice to have a personal guide for our museum tour. :) - We had requested for a late check-out in advance as we had the train to Jaisalmer in evening. The accommodate us for late check-out very well and the whole gesture was far more than anybody would do. It's not about booking a luxury hotel, but it's the experience of being there and feeling royal which makes Umaid Bhawan India's number one hotel.

Umaid Bhawan Palace do not have much rooms, It really makes less people during breakfast lunch and dinner. how ever they have sufficient staff to take care of us. rooms are more or less similar to similar to other heritage palace hotels of Rajasthan, but size and height of rooms are bigger than others. no need to take ticket to visit Umaid Bhavan Palace museum. How ever this was one of my costliest stay.
