Reason For Rating : The proverbial Hotel from hell! - Stay at your own peril! Terrible, terrible, terrible hotel! Horrendous, absolutely horrendous management! They took Rupees 7500 (upwards of 100 USD) and gave us: (1) Musty rooms with bedsheets that had blood stains, urine stains among others (2) The doors to the rooms didnt close - there was no privacy - the wooden slats dont work, the latches dont work, our privacy was literally at the mercy of the staff (3) A stranger peeking through our Washroom window at night! We caught a man peeking into our washroom through the overhead window on the 2nd night here - we shouted for help and the guards said they couldnt find anyone! How can a hotel have such a terrible security? We only thanked our stars this was our final night here! (4) Speaking of security, since we were the only people there on our first night, there was no security guards! (5) No published menu! We were supposed to fork out 10 USD (Rupees 700) per head for a menu that was written down

Once I had aired my room for a few hours and thrown out the moth balls that they put in men's urinals I was able to use my room. Outside my room, in the garden I collected...a sock, used ear cleaners, plastic bottle tops, packing, pieces of foil, used coffee and milk packets...plastic bottles. The manageress got a couple of her staff to clear up. I went off to Kaziranga golf course for lunch, during which time my family had lunch at Banyan, and told me it was rubbish on my return. The next morning there was more litter over by their magnificent Banyan tree. I got the gardeners and a staff member to pick some of it up, because this litter is spread about over the whole property. A staff member picked some of it up and then threw it down the bank towards the river. Incomptent staff means incompetent management. I really can recommend the Kaziranga golf resort, which belongs to the same group of three hotels, but which has a different manager. There was no litter there, which just shows that Indians ARE capable of using bins. My family had dinner at Banyan, and told me the next day that wasn't good either. So I would recommend staying at the golf course instead.

Lonely within nature. A place to visit with small nature loving people. In and around tea gardens, a Golf course to enjoy. Kaziranga ,Majuli at a reasonable distance within day travel. A day visit to small Jorhat town also encouraged.

8 & 9 December 2019 An otherwise excellent stay with friends was marred by the disappearance of two all weather jackets we inadvertently left in a wardrobe. Having phoned the manageress within two hours of leaving we returned the following morning to be presented with my warm hat and scarf left in the wardrobe in my jacket pocket but with the two jackets missing and unaccounted for. Subsequent correspondence was unanswered for three weeks. Enquiries were made at Banyan Grove but nothing materialised.

I was re-visiting this place after two and a half years. It was much improved in terms of amenities and retained the charm. The staff were as courteous and helpful as ever. The bonfire was warm and the food was excellent. The grounds were well manicured and all of us hoped we get the chance to come back here again!
