Junagadh is the seventh largest city of Gujrat, located around 355 km southwest of Ahmedabad. There are many places to visit in Junagadh including forts, museums, temples and parks. The hill of Girnar is a prominent tourist spot, having five peaks with shrines of different deities. A large number of Hindu devotees visit this place to offer their prayers and attain peace of mind. In addition to this, Jamiyalshah Datar shrine, accessible via Dataar Hills is also famed among tourists. Some of the other famous shrines in Junagadh include the Gayatri Mandir, Vagheshwari Mandir, and Damodarji Temple.
At the middle of the town stands an ancient fort, Uparkot, which is a historical monument of medieval era. To the left of the entrance gate, visitors will find Jama Masjid, which is supported by 140 pillars. In addition to this, tourists can explore the Buddhist Caves, Adi-Kadi Vav, Baba Pyara Caves and Navghan Kuwo. While on Junagadh tour, travellers can also checkout the Wild Museum, which houses rare furniture, ancient coins and inscriptions in Sanskrit and Persian languages. Two of the other renowned museums of the region are the Ayurvedic Museum and Science Museum.
Junagadh sightseeing also includes a visit to the Damodar Kund that was constructed in 500 AD. This kund is a holy bathing tank, which has various mythological stories associated with it. In proximity to this attraction, there is Revti Kund which is worth paying a visit to. Some other places which tourists must explore during their sojourn are the Wellington Dam, Moti Baug, Mujkund Caves, Damodarji Temple, Dataar Hills and Narsinh Mehta Lake.
