What's Good: Good points : Location, close to nature, excellent food, hospitable staff and a lovely swimming pool. Areas for improvements: 1.The landscape could be aesthetically maintained, most of the plants are wild and are in your face, areas of leisure like hammocks and kid play sections are inaccessible due to ill maintained landscaping. The walkways could also be paved to avoid soiling the cottages. 2.Although the cottages are designed well, the floor mats have somehow been ignored and unfortunately that catches your attention the minute you enter the cottage. 3. With an ambitious pricing to be a part of the top league, the facilities and ambience could well be enhanced to those standards.

This was a wonderful property. The rooms were amazing and extremely neatly maintained. There are 22 cottages and all of them have an open to air jacuzzi except one which is a suite cottage having an indoor jacuzzi and its apparently the only cottage that has hot water for the jacuzzi and only one having a water front view. Luckily we got this cottage and totally loved it. Food was very good. We especially loved the breakfast and in general they have an amazing spread for buffet. The staff are mostly local from the surrounding village and are extremely courteous and well trained. They had arranged for cultural program as well beside the campfire in the evening. The bar served all drinks at nominal prices. The swimming pool was superb. The property as such is extremely beautiful. We went for a nature walk in the wee morning hours and did a lot of bird spotting through the guide arranged by the resort who was very well informed. We stayed for a night and didnt want to leave that place.

The rooms and resort is good and it's very close to Nagarhole National Park. The feel of the resort is very rustic and there are lots of activities to do. The buffet in the main restaurant was not upto the mark but the food in the bar was really good.. :) The staff was very helpful and courteous.. Evening they have arranged tribal dance for the guest. Overall it was a good experience.

Got mesmerised with the information in the red earth resort website. Was it worth the money and a very long car drive!!!! Let's read.... Long drive started at misty early morning, halt for breakfast, as destination neared, villages emerge with clear direction boards and little rough road, RED EARTH, Kabini, destination for the next two nights. Home like entrance and staff greetings with lemon welcome drink at room temperature, could have been more refreshing with some ice & mint leaves after the very long sunny ride, as we continued to welcome lounge for an introduction session about the Red Earth and it's amenities, checked-in with ID proof identity confirmation. Couldn't have an option to choose any other availbale room due to long weekend full bookings. As the host guided us along the chipping birds, the eco friendly villa doors greeted us with the private Jacuzzi and the main room with lemon grass fragrance but the fragrance didn't last long. Like the olden days, the bathroom wasn't attached to the bedroom hence no bad smell inside the room. Baggage arrived, good to see bottled water with a note of care instead of packaged drinking water, In-house drinks and refreshments along with price list, Now let's check expectation vs reality. Restaurant - varieties spread across lunch, dinner and breakfast Vegetarian & Non-Vegetarian menus served as part of package and additional orders outside the buffet is also served with smile and billed at check-out. ex) Mock-tail or chilled lemonade. Safari - Arrangements made as per forest department timings, bus seating availability and billed at check-out @ Rs. 500 per person for 2 hours ride to explore bunch of deer, peacocks, monkeys, bison, elephant, if lucky, might see tiger or or leopard or cheetah. It's better to have an empty bladder to sustain the 2 hours bumpy forest ride. Note: If interested in private Jeep rides, please check pricing. Cafe - Evening snack with coffee / tea / any other drink of our choice can be relished at the banks of Kabini river, really worth spending time for PHOTO SHOOT evening / early morning. Chorus / Bird walk - Early morning 6:30 am sharp at clock, guide starts the bird walk explaining the types of birds along the surroundings of red earth and the village. Quite informative session about the birds, it's types and whereabouts. You never realise the walking for an hour. Culture & People - Red Earth encourages the local culture and people demonstrating their origin and specialities combined with talented artists showcasing their talents and whereabouts by dance of arts and music. The half an hour activity closes with gratitude and any form of support from us. Speed Boat - This time specific activity is operated from morning till evening, if the weather is good. The 20 minute family drive @ Rs. 600 per person on the Kabini river is worth a try. Bar - The place to relax in the simple chair and stretch our legs with our favourite companion either in hand or near by or both amidst the muddy lotus pond. Now for some quick points... Cycling - Unfortunately the cycling tracks were submerged due to heavy rain since couple of weeks, so an option to explore the nearby area in bicycle was suggested. Hence relaxing at the Cafe was a bliss rather cycling.... Coracle / Basket Boat - This was an available option instead of speed boat but neither we or the support staff spoke about it. Bullock cart ride - Was mentioned in the website.. but neither in the introduction session nor during our stay, none spoke about it. Luxury Villa - Due to rain wetness, the room smelled a little damp which could have been avoided by keeping the french window and the front door open for a couple of hours before the guests check-in. Housekeeping- Post relishing the Foods or drinks at the room, housekeeping was searching for a good time to clean-it until we checked-out. Overall the Eco-friendly experience among humming birds, relaxing private Jacuzzi, the perfect Photo shoot cafe spot along the river bank and timely restaurant servings made the two night stay VERY GOOD & memorable but I wish it could have been EXCELLENT, so RED EARTH sustain at Centre of Excellence. Finally to mention about the host or guest relation officer who was on call any time and ready to make the stay as comfortable as possible. Kudos to the team.

This resort showcases Karnataka rural setting. Huge very green property situated in a area with farmlands of ginger, banana, sugarcane etc surrounded on three sides by a big lake. The cottages with walls made by baked red earth and southern style thatched roofing gives it s very realistic rural look from outside, yet the interiors are very modern with ac, tv, mini fridge, well made big area for toilet and shower etc Lots of ornamental, flower bearing and varietof fruit trees are within the property. The food quality and spread is great with many ingredients from the in-house plants/ trees. A big swimming pool, a trampoline, a raised earths stage for tribal dance shows every night, and two man made pools with lotuss are some of the highlights of this resort. The resort also arranges a trip to Kabini jungle Safari to observe wildlif. A very nice place for a relaxed holiday, far from city life, in real rural settings.

Have taken my American friend to this place. actually we were looking for kabini river lodge but the charge per person so this was our second choice. it is very near to the river/reservoir of Kabini and they accommodate the jungle safari aswell. unfortunately we were not able to any tiger or even elephant ( bad luck for us on that day) apart we enjoyed a lot.
