I stayed in a triple bed cottage at Kanchan View Tourist Lodge at Rishop for 2 nights (6 & 7 November, 2018) with my family. Rishop being a small village in the lap of the nature, this Lodge is an excellent option to stay with warm hospitality provided by Mr, Kumar Gurung & his family. I booked this property over phone to Prantik Da (Ghare Baire Travells). Ours being a family with 4 members (we 2 and our 2), Prantik Da suggested us to take a triple bed cottage which is not in the main two storied building, but just below the lawn. But, believe me, the cottages are excellent with 180 degree view of Himalayan (Kanchanjangha) ranges (from Sandakphu in the west to Zuluk in the east). Mr. Gurung is an excellent person who takes care of everything you need at such a remote location. Cottage room is made of wood and cleanly maintained. Bathroom is also clean with geyser facility (in the morning). Room heater is available on rent basis. I would strongly recommend this one if you plan to stay at Rishop.

Having read the reviews in Tripadvisor, we selected this hotel for our first trip to Rishop. We reached there at about 12:30PM. The road condition for the last 4 - 5 Km is extremely pathetic to say the least. We traveled in a Maruti van. The driver had good skill and hence we could reach Rishop without any issue. I would recommend strongly to use Bolero / Scorpio / Xylo or any other big car for the journey. The road at places does not exist i.e. only big rocks are placed to cover the stretch. So only big cars can make it. Once we reached hotel, the location was just excellent. Probably the best in the Rishop. All rooms are Kanchenjunga facing. On a clear day, you would be able to see a magnificent view of Kanchenjunga. The food was very tasty and freshly prepared by the staff. But it is costly which is expected given the remote location of Rishop. The rooms are average size and clean. The hotel is made of wood and not at all noise proof i.e. slightest sound coming from the balcony and adjacent rooms can be heard easily. Service is good. Hotel staff is polite. Rishop is at altitude of 8500 ft and just to give a comparison Darjeeling is at 6700 ft. So expect cold and pack accordingly. Heaters are available on demand at an extra cost per night. Though the hotel has 24 hours running water, as the night temperature dropped to 5 - 6 degrees, one cannot use it much given the extreme cold temperature of water. You need hot water and here in lies an important issue we faced at Kanchanview. All rooms are fitted with geyser but the hotel staff switches it on only during morning from 8:00 - 9:00am. Rest of the time, you are forced to use the cold water. Also, be prepared to shell out 20 - 25% more taxi fare (than your onward journey) as outside taxi cannot be used for your return journey and you will have to use the taxi from Rishop Taxi Association. Overall it was a average stay. I gave 3 star only because of the staff, location and food.

It's a kind of home stay. Booked through ghare-baire travels Kolkata. We have faced a massive power cut off during our stay. We reached by 5:30 pm. From 6pm to next day morning 8 am it was a complete power off. No power back up. At morning we faced issue with running water also. Still I have given 4 out 5. It's only because of the marvelous view of the Himalayan range. Probably this is located in the best position of rishop to see the kangchenjunga. This lodge is having a beautifully decorated lawn at the premises. From lawn you can enjoy the all around open view of kangchenjunga and entire Himalayan range. We have enjoyed sun rise and the change of color in kangchenjunga during the sun rise. The staffs were really very nice. They have regretted couple of times for the power cut off. Homely food more of a candle light dinner. I have really enjoyed the stay in spite of some real issues.

I think this is the best place in Rishop where one can get good accommodation along with the great 180 degree view of hills. Kanchanjunga looks awesome from here.. I would recommend this place to everyone. One must visit the tiffindara viewpoint from here. It is around 1 hr of trek from here.

Rishop is one of my favourite short trip destinations. And of course Kanchan View Tourist Lodge is my first staying option. Prantik Da of The Ghare Baire Tours & Travels tried to keep the best view room for me whenever I visited there. the Lodge is situated on the highest place of Rishop and the rooms of the lodge are very spacious. I visited there 3 times with family and friends. The view of Kanchenjunga from the lodge is awesome. Food is good. The spacious green lawn with tiny colourful flowers along with the Kanchenjunga make the stay really wonderful.
