What's Good: Property is at a good location but much suitable for honeymooners and nature lovers. Families with Children will not find any activity at the hotel. Staff is very pleasing and helpful specially the F&B staff. They try to fullfill all your food demands. Neat and clean hotel with a valley view .

Stayed one night in Silver Oaks. This was my fourth stay in this hotel. This is the best property of Elgin group. I did not have reservation, checked in on spot. We were allotted a non-view room (Rm No.42 first. Then changed to a valley view room (Rm No.32). Upkeep of the room was perfect. Here I must say, food of all the hotels of Elgin group are equally good. But I give more marks to this hotel for their service of the restaurant crews and variety of food. Double thumbs up to Silver Oaks.

I didnt like the room very much. But I was at the lobby level and I could only get the Deluxe due to peak season. So maybe the upper floors were better. The hotel is walkable distance from the market which is a plus. Also the seating area outside the hotel is very comfortable and with the foggy conditions was a pleasant experiences. There is a decent bar. Food and service was above average. But I think food in hotels in West Bengal is priced on the higher side. A special word of thanks to Mr Nima at the reception. The gentleman was very kind to organize transport for us at a very busy time. I went to another hotel and Mr Nima suggested rightly that I book transport for that day as well. There was a political event on that day and if not for his advice I could have well been stuck. The cars and drivers were very good. Especially the driver Bhima.

Hotel is a heritage building and the rooms were beautiful. The grounds were beautiful and the hotel as such is very tastefully done and comfortable. We had taken 2 rooms, one was right next to the reception and the other room was down the corridor, right next to the restaurant. So there wasn't much privacy. Breakfast was good with continental options like sausages, toast, fruits, and such. Indian/South indian options were also available. The front desk staff were courteous and helpful. But, Kalimpong, as a place, was such a big let down. There is nothing to do there, a couple of view points that did not have any proper markers or boards to show you how to reach there/where to go. There was a old church in a dilapidated condition inside a school campus. The market/shopping is pathetic. If any of your Northeast tour package includes Kalimpong, please do not go there.

The hotel is a heritage property oozing quaint English charm. It is placed at an amazing setting with an awesome view of the valley on one side and the Kalimpong hillside town on the other. The staff make you feel royal and the experience has to be relished. The rooms are spacious and has a nice views of the Valley. The dining hall gives you an 18th century English feel and the service is personalized. Every family has a table reserved with their name card placed on them and a staff member exclusively caters to your needs. The food served is amazing. The lobby, foyer, lounge and the aisles are filled with old framed pictures depicting the history of Kalimpong. The lighting in the property is also amazing. The gazebos laid out in the front facing the valley is an ideal place to relax and savor a cup of fine Darjeeling First Flush served in typical English style. There is a wonderful Russian Samoyed named Ferro (or Pharaoh) which is an extremely friendly dog. All in all an awesome place to relax after a tiring tour of Darjeeling and Sikkim.
