I recommend Darang Tea Estate to other hosts. Our experience with them has been great. We had been to this place in the past and this time I was there in Dec'18 with my parents and stayed there for 3 nights. It is a beautiful estate in a small hamlet, Darang. This place is easily accessible with the most breathtaking, peaceful tea gardens and birds chirping. The place is managed by Bhandari's (Neera Aunti & Naveen Uncle), they are very hospitable and welcoming. The peaceful environment is what my parents enjoyed the most. To add to the environment, the cottage was neat, spacious and were just as comfortable as home. The food was amazing and homely. We enjoyed all our meals, and especially the dessert :) Every night we use to gossip around fireside lintel where we kept ourselves warm and Naveen uncle use to tell us some funny anecdotes before the dinner :) :).. Will definitely be recommending this place to others.

We stayed on the Darang tea estate with our extended family amongst the quaint little cottages scattered around the plantation. We were transported back to an era that one has only read about in the novels and seen in black-and-white photos in the history books. The plantation was beautiful and vast and our children were able to roam freely. The air was clean, the scenery was magnificent with the backdrop of hills and the mountains of the Himalayas. But it wasnt just the surroundings, it was the people. Naveen and Neera opened their home and their hearts to us and for a few days we felt as though they were our own and we theirs. To have a nightcap of scotch on the Veranda under the clear starry skies having just been fed exquisite home-cooked food and been warmed by the fireplace was easy and effortless courtesy of our hosts - testament to how comfortable they made us feel. We laughed and told stories and felt enriched with culture and heritage of an India so few are lucky to experience. We were there three generations, different nationalities yet we felt so relaxed, we enjoyed their company and the atmosphere created. I cannot recommend the Narang tea estate highly enough, not just for the place but for the people. Time has stood still here, no hustle, no bustle, a real taste of old India.

After travelling India for a month, coming to the serenity of Darang Tea Estate was heaven. Our hosts, Neera & Naveen made us feel welcome, preparing meals using organically grown produce from their own garden & cows! Our cottage was very cosy, 1 of 3 available, and was equipped with all home comforts, including electric blankets , which were magically switched on for us at bedtime! The 200 hundred year old property and estate is in a great location, with lots of places to visit nearby, like the jaw dropping Kangra Fort, Nandi, Norbulinka & Dharmsala. Neera can organize a driver for pick up and drop off and also for sightseeing. Being here was the highlight of our trip, the scenery, delicious home cooked meals and great conversation rounded off a perfect stay.

A tea estate and an old house converted to a homestay, it was great place to completely shut off the hustle and bustle of city life and relax. Our bonus was the three friendly dogs. Spending time with them, going for long walks is a memory we shall cherish forever. On top of all this, the food was amazing. They took our requests for rajma, makki roti and saag and anything we desired to eat. Their lichi with malai is one of the best desserts I have ever eaten.
