  • Worst hotel in southern India?

    by simonfG5468OT on

We were really looking forward to our trip to Kanyakumari. Lovely village in many regards. However, our stay at Maadhini was terrible to say the least. We arrived around 10pm and were welcomed by a rude dude at the front desk who claimed that our reservation hadnt gone through. Fair enough. It was late. He was probably tired. So were we. Thats okay. When he finally found the reservation, we were shown to our room. We got terrified. When the lights were turned on, we saw two COCKROACHES running through the room. And the bedsheets were used and visibly dirty. On top of a disgusting bathroom with stains all over. It cant get worse, can it? Yes! Our doorbell rang frenetically at 6 am! We asked who was ringing the bell. With no answer. Were we getting robbed? No, it was the hotel staff insisting that we should get out of bed to see the sunset. Hey, weve heard about the beautiful sunset in Kanyakumari, but would prefer to see it when having slept more than just a few hours. And if we wanted to use their wake up services, we wouldve asked for them. We stayed for two nights and checked out early because we just couldnt live with the dirty room. I would highly advise anyone against staying at Maadhini hotel. The location was great, but there are plenty of alternatives on the same street. Hopefully without cockroaches and with clean bathrooms and bedsheets though.

  • Good

We spent a night here on our visit to kanyakumari. The rooms were spacious and clean as was the bathroom. Plus point is that you can see the ocean and sunrise from the balcony itself. It's good for few nights stay.

  • Pathetic Stay and Experience

    by ARUNCHIL on

The hotel is just painted from outside. Inside it is very very old and lacks all the essential services like 24 hours hot water, cloth hangers inside the bathroom, TV channels. When we visited, the hotel was under renovation but then we were offered a renovated room. Poor information about the amenities like restaurants and breakfast was not provided. Like we were charged for the breakfast with no breakfast. The view outside is good but lot of disturbance as a result of Church in close proximity and they play very loud music as early as 4:30-5:00 am. We were asked for cash for paying the invoice and no invoice was provided after the payment meaning it is a black money den

  • Waste of money

We have visited the hotel with my family this month only. The hotel person convinced and offered me a non AC double room at Rs.900 only, but asked the cash only. The room was full of ants and my son suffered multiple ant bites. The ants were spread not only on walls, but in almirah, on bed, pillow and dressing table as well(I have attached 1 pic also where wall was full marking of ants line-lakshman Rekha). The fan speed was below average and we felt it was intentionally set for low speed. We could not open the windows because of scrotching sunlight coming directly on to the bed.The washroom condition was very bad and stinking terribly. The hotel lure the costumers for better view of sunrise and sunset from the terrace, but the condition of terrace was horrible and was being used for night parties. We went on terrace early morning to see the sunrise but the entire terrace was full of non veg garbages and wine -beer bottles.overall the sunrise view was not attractive with these litters around. The staff behaviour was rude and even they didn't provide water to drink even after request, may be they expected big tip.At the time of vacating the room, the staff asked us to handover the key very rudely as we didn't give any tip. Overall our experience was very bad and suggest others not to trust on this hotel just because of external decoration. You can find better option in the same range near the beach area.

  • Best view of Sunrise!

Its an old hotel, but still a nice budget hotel, located at walk-able distance to Temple, Boat House and other major activities at Kanyakumari. Restaurant is not that great, but you have a lot of good choices around the hotel. Hotel Staff wake you up before sunrise and this Hotel probably has the best view of sunrise, that's if the skies are clear! Vivekandanda Rock and Thiruvallavoor Statue can bee seen from the Hotel and you get a nice view of the horizon!

  • Budget hotel, so services are equivalent
