Like most of the reviewers on this hotel, I too made the booking thinking it is a part of Shangril-La chain. Generally I read reviews on Trip Advisor but when booking this hotel, I was comfortable enough due to good experience of other Shangri-La properties in other countries I visited. To my dismay, reviews I later went through was not at all good and I was cursing myself for booking on non-refundable basis. Having left no other options in hand, I telephoned the Reservations Manager hours before my arrival, explained her what I have read about the hotel and requested her not to let me through that. I was warmly greeted on my arrival. Checking in process was super fast. Front Desk Staff were very polite, efficient and helpful. One of them walked me up to my room on the 4th Floor; marked as club rooms. My room number was 416. All the negativity built up in my mind was blown away when the room was opened and lights were on. I was in a nicely decorated and well furnished room with clean and modern bathroom. View from the room was the best I could have thought of. Beautifully landscaped garden was a pleasing and refreshing site both during daylight and dusk. Garden brings out its true beauty and character when moderately illuminated in the evening. Bed was spacious and comfortable. Linen was new, clean and crisp. Room was so quiet. Curtains block all outside lighting allowing the best sleep possible. During the next 5 days, I spent most of my daytime out in the city attending to my work assignments and evenings were at the hotel by choice. Food and beverages serve here is both tasty and filling. There is a decent selection of western, Asian and Indian food with a Nepali Twist. Breakfast buffet was good as well. Little bar area was equally relaxing and served good selection of beverages and small plates. Live Piano Music at the lobby area was good for relaxation. Tranquility spa is next door and connected to hotel concierge area with a sheltered walkaway. As a hotel guest I received 20% discount on all treatments and I would say both the facilities and services were excellent. In summary, the hotel met with my expectations and will certainly consider staying there again.

We were there for Resturant .It was raining in the afternoon and we were in the garden table having our dine. Eerything was perfect from services to relish . Though we were not nearby waiter everytime we had to call them , indication by waving was very difficult .

I'm not sure how this hotel is listed as five star. Poor service and management. I had conversation with staffs and they said they do not get any holiday and many of them are intern who do not get single penny for their work also. Why do you charge as five star when you can not provide service to us and pay your own staff for their work.

I stayed here with my family for 5 nights / 6 days, booked two adjacent rooms in their properties at Kathmandu and Pokhra. The WORST STAY of my life so far.... a) The hotel doesnt belong to Shangri-la group. While, booking this fact was not shared. While staying i did not get a feeling of a good Five Star Property hence checked with them and then this fact got revealed. 2) The rooms were very small, stinking and bede were very noisy. 3) The Ants running all over the dishes kept in buffet breakfast. When pointed and showed to staff these were changed. I HAVE GOT PHOTGRAPHS FOR SAME. 4) When complained the staff was very rude initially and said that i can post it on Trip Advisor or any other Social media i like. Lately, the senior staff got to know about it and then they came and gave all the reasons for not being able to provide a good service to the customers, I will request Shangri-la Management to atleast publish somewhere that these properties are not part of their group so that people dont get fooled by these unscrupulous hotels. I will request all friends to immediate cancel their booking if already done to save humiliation and frustration of staying in such a lousy hotel.

We checked in late today at 11 not expecting what we will see in next few mins. Escorted to our room and what we saw is shocking. Tiny claustrophobic and stinking room with bugs and dirty toilet. We booked for 2 king size bedded rooms and were downgraded to twin rooms, We went to the reception and complained for our room change anperson at the reception was so unprofessional and ill mannered that he literally started fighting with us. I am so annoyed and shocked and thats why I am writing this review now. PLS
