Blessed with undisturbed natural beauty, Kausani is a picturesque hill station located in the state of Uttarakhand in India. The town is situated at an approximate distance of 120 km from the City of Lakes, Nainital and is thus easily accessible from all parts of India. However, travellers planning a Kausani trip must keep in mind that the only way to reach this place is via road. Laid down in blissful surroundings, the winding roads to Kausani provide satisfaction to the soul of travellers.
The most striking feature about Kausani, sited at an average elevation of 1890 m above sea level, is that it provides a panoramic view of the lofty Himalayas. Mountain peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli are sharply visible from this town on a clear sky day. Other than the splendid view of the Himalayas, there are several tourist places in Kausani that are worth a visit. One such site is the Anasakti Ashram, also known as Gandhi Ashram, dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi who visited this town and termed it the 'Switzerland of India'. In addition, the Lakshmi Ashram, popularly called Sarla Ashram, located uphill at a small distance offers a calm and peaceful environment for relaxation. Other places of interest within the town are the Pant Gallery named after the renowned Hindi poet Sumitranandan Pant and the Kausani tea estate spread over an area of 208 hectares.
With so many places of interest in a small region, Kausani sightseeing is the most predominant activity tourists can indulge in during their visit. Trekking up the hill or taking nature walks through lush green environs are other invigorating ways to explore the beauty of Kausani. A honeymooner's paradise and a weekend getaway for Himalayan tourists, Kausani can be visited all year round.
