Khimsar is a small village that is located in Rajasthan on the right edge of the Thar Desert. It extends at a stretch of about 92 km along the Jodhpur-Bikaner highway. The main among the Khimsar tourist places is the Khinvsar Fort, which was built in the beginning of 16th century for military purposes. In the 18th century, the royal family shifted to the palace and it became the residence of the Emperor. The fort is still home to the descendants of the Khimsar family. However, majority of the portion has now been converted into a heritage hotel.
Lies in proximity to cities like Jodhpur, Udaipur and Kumbhalgarh, Khimsar is an ideal place to spend weekends. Being here, tourists can pay a visit to the Jayal-Dadhimati Mata Temple, Meera Bai Temple and Bhanwal Matta Temple. They can also explore the Nagaur Fort which is in the vicinity of the city. This fort houses a number of attractions, such as Tarkeen Dargah, Jain Temple, Saiji ka Tanka, Cenotaph of Amar Singh Rathore, Bansiwala Temple, Nath Ji ki Chhatri and Barli.
Sightseeing is only one aspect of Khimsar tour, another is knowing about the popular customs of the city. Tourists can talk to locals and participate in their celebrations to accustom themselves with popular traditions. Though there is no dearth of places to visit in Khimsar, most of the tourists take out some time to spend a few moments with villagers. Be it sightseeing or exploring cultural heritage, Khimsar offers a number of opportunities to make vacations an unforgettable experience.
