My family and I spent 2 nights at Elephant Valley in late December. It is a large and lovely property with an abundance of pepper and coffee. It`s a quiet place with very few activities and therefore, a good place to relax. Our priority was to just be together, relax and enjoy each other`s company - The place was well suited for it. The room we stayed in (Peninsula) made all the difference. It`s the farthest from the dining area and one needs to cross a shallow stream (Very slippery rocks) or a rope bridge (Wobbly but fun) to get there. The long path to the room is only lit in parts and carrying a powerful torch is recommended. Although safe, it was very dark and we had the staff escort us from / to the room after dusk. Having to cross the bridge several times a day and living in a remote end of the property made it exciting. The trek to the waterfall, about 15 minutes away, was a good walk and the only activity of note at Elephant Valley (They offer a 3 hour trek though). The recreation area near the dining area had a carrom board we made good use of. Visiting the organic farm and learning about coffee picking, drying & roasting (About 20 minutes or so in all) were the only other things to do. Kodaikanal, bout 30 KMs away, is an attraction for many but we chose to stay put at the property. Meals have to be ordered in advance as they prepare food based on exact needs of guests. This took some getting used to and is unlike what one expects on a regular holiday - With time, we did learn to order the next meal / snack during the previous one. This was the only small downside in what was, overall, an enjoyable holiday. Things to note - 1. Peninsula (Rooms 1, 2 & 3) are recommended for families / friends looking for excitement in an otherwise quiet place. The wobbly bridge and rugged terrain would be a challenge for kids and the elderly. 2. The terrain/paths n Elephant Valley are uneven - Elders are advised to pick a room very close to the dining area to avoid walking (The property is not recommended for those who have a challenge walking or need support.). 3. Please plan your meals (It`s the only way to fuel yourself. There is little room for spontaneous orders or experimentation).

promised much and delivered little. food was v poor and expensive and little choice, room ok but not worth the money, run down and staff shuffled round with little or no enthusiasm. No wifi or written info on animals, birds or map of area, everything costs and cant even make a cup of tea! Classic case of French owner who has little apparent hands on or interest. their philosophy with organic is good but they dont deliver, NOT even close. Plus side is nice and fresh air

We were there on a 4 nights stay with 2 boys 7 & 4. We stayed in tectona and it was very nice with sounds of birds and water stream through out. Location is so beatiful that even after 4 nights stay we still did not feel like leaving. Trekking to the top of the waterfalls is nice. Bridge and area around it is very serene. Food is really nice only problem is served very slow (give yourselves atleast 30mins extra). Service is very nice all the staff members are working really hard and always available to attend your problems immediately. I would like to thank Vinod, Jishnu and Rahul for their hardwork.

We, a bunch of college friends had a reunion as a mark of 20 years of friendship in this Pristine environment. Quiet and beautiful place to enjoy and reminisce our daring younger days. Full marks to the enticing and mighty mother nature in its full bloom and glory. Flora and Fauna: Elephant, bison and thars supposedly graze the forest around but we spotted none. My friend, who being an early to rise tribe spotted large group of wild Peacocks near the restraunt and common areas. As of me, contend with seeing domesticated cows, a duck family and a lonely stallion. Flowers in all colours and shapes are aplenty everywhere which is very therapeutic for body and soul. Trekking with a local guide to a nearby waterfall is a must. So for hotel review : Rooms : Clean comfortable bed and basic amenities. Food : served in strict timing are good when taken hot. But unadulterated farm grown food. Staff and Service : friendly and pleasant. If you are lucky you can even catch a local football game in the street arena just outside the resort. Ps: getting hot water when you actually feel like having a shower is a tricky cat and rat race.
