I spent my birthday here..if you are looking to relax in the lap of nature amidst mountain and forest then this is the perfect location. But please do not litter and carry your littter back if you want to stay here. This is an organic farm which offer yoga classes for free. The food offered at the restaurant is simple and vegetarian. The experience is awesome and will imprint lifetime of memories

So here is a great place! Idyllic, heavenly and straight out of a movie. We visited Karuna farms in August hearing loads of rave reviews about it especially appealed to us as it is off the grid and eco friendly. The place is beautiful and picturesque infact better than what you see online and in reviews however the owner and staff can't say the same about them. Owner Chitra is irritatingly intrusive and has no concept of space and boundaries with her guests. On several occasions she continued to accompany us and engaging in conversation without giving us any privacy. When gently told to quieten down she insisted she wanted to be loud and irritate us. The food is strictly OK. The chef and his son are well behaved and cordial and the weather is great but due to the other niggles it kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth. For instance, they have conflicting rules for many things including serving alcohol. It is safe to say that while the place can be quite rewarding it is the people who are running it are confused and unprofessional. We would have hoped to return but unfortunately won't and won't recommend it either.

The guest houses are badly managed and maintained. Cracks and crevices in the walls allows air borne creatures to easily enter the room. It's not advised to travel during the rains. Ask for all available rooms and check before finalizing on one. My personal recommendation is: Shashi

I had heard a lot about this place from my fellow nature loving friends who have made multiple visits to Kodai in the past and hence my expectation was sky high. Frankly speaking, the place was even better than expected but with a major glitch. Our room was on a cliff and the view outside was exquisite. There were plenty of serene spots in the premise itself which makes this place a great respite for city dwellers like us. However, our stay turned out to be a horrific nightmare only because of the terrible management by the lady in charge (I think her name is Chitra) who was extremely rude and inhospitable to us from the start. While booking the room over the phone, she did not give us a clear idea of the type of room and the price. So when we reached the place, she allotted a room to us which was substandard and was extremely expensive compared to the other rooms (we paid 3.5 k for one night ). She took an upfront amount of 2k from us and told us we could pay the rest during check-out. She didn't give us a bill for it and we too felt that she would only give it when we pay the full amount. We agreed to take the room mainly because of the view. The place had a rustic vibe so we didn't expect much. But what happened to us next was unacceptable. At night we discovered that the sheets were filthy with blood stains everywhere and the blankets had not been washed for ages and had muck all over! We don't expect much from a place as raw as this, but the least they could provide for the price they took was clean sheets and blankets! We couldn't sleep all night and next morning went to complain to the lady in charge. She brushed off the complain and refused to believe us- claiming that they clean the rooms everyday. We had to take her to our room to show her the filth and muck as proof to make her believe us. Next, while we were checking out- she made a final bill and asked us to pay the full amount. When we spoke about the upfront we had already paid, she completely denied ever taking any money from us and accused us of lying. She argued with us for almost 30 minutes and publicly harassed and accused us of lying about the money. It was only after checking her accounts again that she realized that she had already taken half the amount from us the previous day! This was absolutely unprofessional on her part and we were baffled by her behaviour. We had a really good stay but she left us with a bad taste. It's sad that such a pristine place is contaminated by someone like her who can potentially ruin the experience of guests. My only advice to the upper management at Karuna Farms is to get their act together and hire the right people to manage the place.

Truly a getaway from the hustle bustle of city, Karuna farms is a great escape. It offers peace and serenity, and is a place to detox yourself. Please do make advance reservation. Also note that it has basic amenities and its not a resort
