This was our second Tamara property after Coorg in 2015.. Hats off to the Tamara Management for keeping up the good work again.. Special Mention of Mr. Syed, the Activity Manager, for carrying out the Jungle trek exceptionally well and arranging the activities for all resident guests. Mr Ranjan, the head chef of The Tamara Kodai, took extra care in preparation of Vegetarian dishes and was always around to take the feedback from the guests. The rooms are big and spacious with Valley Views Balcony as all the rooms are Suite Rooms in this property. The resort is well maintained with temperature controlled Swimming Pool and all the staff members of this property always greets you whenever they see you. You never feel that you are out of home when you always have such welcoming people around. The location of this property make it calm and quaint away from the hustle and chaos of the city. Would also mention Mr Mahendra who was always there to serve us well in the restaurants of this property during our 3 night stay

Excellent property with courteous staff. Had a wonderful time at the resort. The staff was available and willing to cater to any requests that we had. The resort is very close to the town center (walking time:10 min). The highlight of the stay was the food which was top notch. Kudos to the chef on preparing amazing meals. Will visit again soon.

When the customer comes first, the customer will last. - Robert Half During the long weekend during this Dussera, Usha Radhakrishnan and myself enjoyed the hospitality of Manjula Senthil at The Tamara, Kodai. For us it was a nostalgic experience of heaven on earth, a repeat of history in the winter of 2013. This time we missed the presence of Senthil Kumar in his physical form but on more than one occasion I experienced his loving presence as I walked around the property a place he had designed himself but did not live to see it launched. The Tamara Kodai is located in a building originally called Baynes Bungalow in the 1840s, owned by British District Judge, Mr. Baynes. One of the first few houses to be built in the region, Baynes Bungalow was sold to Father Louis Cyr in 1860, when it was renovated and reopened as La Providence. This stunning building was used as a rest house for priests of Nagapattinam. A century and a half later it is now a heritage experience - more than 2,000 meters (6,500 ft) above sea level, set high in the hills of Kodaikanal and a picturesque luxury hotel. What strikes one immediately at the The Tamara Kodai, is the superlative hospitality that one is showered upon. It is the 24x7 experience of warmth of the staff that stands apart. The place ensconced in its scenic setting would make anyone fall in love with the place at first sight. There are no coincidences in this world got reinforced again when Chef Ranjan Samal greeted us. He was the same Chef who earlier was at The Tamara Coorg. He is a Chef par excellence and his creations are mouth watering. Every meal we had, was a signature item of his. He took extra care of us by reserving a table which we had chosen on the first day, for all our meals. Such unconditional love for customers is a rarity in todays world. Our breakfast on both the days of our stay had a healthy vegetable-fruit juice specially made for us thanks to the Chef, This time Chef Ranjan Samal took us on a guided tour of the property. At The Tamara Coorg Senthil had been our tour guide, I can say with spiritual confidence that Senthil prompted Chef Ranjan to do the honours this time around, We were accompanied to every nook and corner of the property memories of The Tamara Coorg came in gushing and we realised The Tamara Kodai was built to the same standards of excellence, The 10 minute walk from the hotel room to the main building was on a path that had flower beds on both sides with about 18 flowers blossoming in all bright hues. One could stand there feasting ones eyes on the splendour of nature and never be tired but instead get energised. Sunday was spent visiting Kodaikanal town - buying chocolates, spices and oils at South India Spices a store that has been there for 29 years. This was followed by buying fresh vegetables and fruits from local vendors fresh from their farms. The serenity of Sai Shruti the ashram of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, overlooking the Kodakanal Lake was a divine experience. A chance stop at Danish Display a craft store on Bazaar Road made us see some rare pictures of Bhagwan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and a beautiful glazed terracotta idol of Shirdi Sai Baba. As I reflect on the journey to The Tamara Kodai, via roads that were world class and the scenic beauty on the way the memory of the heritage hotel is deeply embedded in our souls thanks to a dear friend Senthil. Joy needs to be shared and I would recommend The Tamara Kodai to anyone who wishes to experience a piece of history, that has hospitality and sumptuous food as its hallmark crowned with a weather that is immensely pleasant, Gar firdaus bar-rue zamin ast, hami asto, hamin asto, hamin ast. (If there is a paradise on earth, its here, its here) - Amir Khusrau #TheTamaraKodai

We stayed at this lovely place for 4 nights and this place is a must visit. The rooms are perfect sized and it contains everything that you need & a little more. The staff makes you feel important at all times & is very attentive to all your needs and comfort. The breakfast and dinner has a lot of variety to offer. The pool is temperature controlled pool which makes your swim comfortable and enjoyable. Instead of plastic bottles they use reusable glass bottles which I respectfully appreciate. The resort is kid friendly with a play area and a small garden for them to play. They have archery, cycling, table tennis, snooker table to keep you engaged. Special mention of the house keeping in charge Mr Rajkumar who kept our room clean and made our stay more enjoyable. Miss Lotchmi from Meghalaya at the restaurant took care of our needs personally. Mr Syed guided us to move around the city. From Check In till Check Out we had a good time with no complaints. This resort is a MUST VISIT
